The anger from media elites should be understood not as a political argument, but as frustration that they are losing market share. They are mad that fewer people are paying attention to corporate media, which means media elites are losing relevance, power & ultimately business.
They are wrapping that rage in electability arguments and political punditry, but the rage - the really deep anger exemplified here, screaming at a Twitch streamer and effectively demanding politicians stay away from independent media - isn't about political ideology or what particular strategy they think Democrats should adopt.
For these media folk, it is about something way deeper and way more personal: their loss of status that they've enjoyed for decades and that they feel entitled to.
@donjon5256@ActualTsar@scrungeonmaster I'd have to ask what leftists you're referring to. Progressives? They've been critical of corporations since like 1904, and more recently had Bernie Sanders in 2015 who was very influential. That was only like a year after gamergate. Commies? They're anti corp by definition
@netridexx@ActualTsar@scrungeonmaster They're not as evil as like Exxon or whatever. But they still have bad working conditions in many studios and numerous anti consumer business practices.
I appreciate AIPAC proving it doesn’t belong in the Dem Party and especially our primaries.
From endorsing Jan 6th members to ensuring Congress remains in the hands of a 34-count felon, AIPAC is an org committed to undermining democracy at home and abroad.
See you in November.
Utterly shameless stuff. Progressives won, or very likely will win, all but one race and this is supposedly a let down (via inexplicably anonymous “operatives”) because they didn’t out perform polls which—it cannot be stressed enough—is not how one measures success in elections
Right, if he wins by any margin, it's still very impressive in an objective, non-expectations-adjusted sense.
It was also stupid AF for him to release a bunch of internals showing himself +13 or whatever.
underappreciated element of the Maher segment is that he says DSA members protesting that they're being called communist (kind of a strawman) is "like when you're calling a woman a whore, but then she's literally a prostitute". Yeah dude, that relatable situation weve all been in
@TatsuyaIshida9 "More like hacks pretending to be comic artists!"
"Please! Wrap up the comic! We want to get out of Herr!"
"Isn't Goering supposed to be airlifting us out of here? Fozzie had better timing!"
DOH HE HE HE HE HE HE HE HE
