This exasperated man needs to understand that EHRC is not making any law.
It is explaining how the law, as enacted by Parliament and as definitively interpreted by the Supreme Ct, is to be applied in general & certain specific circumstances.
His beef is with the law, not the EHRC
@Crowe_JE@PeterOuld But the CC should apply the same guidelines to all charities, not make up new rules just for one particular group. The CC also can’t make up the law. They should use the existing statutory definitions.
Interesting that this seems to go in a different direction to the recommendations produced by Prof Alexis Jay, commissioned by the Archbishops’ Council to review safeguarding - she called for a move to the statutory definition
@OSacrumCorIesu This is great thread. You have to wonder whether there Ch Com have over reached themselves or whether what they have said has been misunderstood. The proposals make little sense as presented.
@Ian_Gomersall@Rgt71Robert@ArchbishopSarah@ClergySupportUK How does the maths on that work? How many bishops/archdeacons would you need per capita of clergy to do that? Genuine Q. And what would it cost to create a similar ratio? Etc
@Rgt71Robert What solution do you propose? Should there be no ‘governance, buildings, compliance, safeguarding’ etc? If there should, who should do it?
