I made a @CofEWorcester video with the help of one of our church schools. Trying to talk about the Trinity with children without falling into gross heresy is always a challenge (which I hope I've avoided)

@SSBullivant@MadsDavies I've always had a soft spot for "When a knight won his spurs". About 15 years ago I was also forcefully reminded how much this can matter when taking a funeral for an 18 yr old, and a church full of teenagers joined in Lord of the Dance pretty much by heart.
@Robin_C_Douglas@BlueCheese608 I'd say its a bit more complex: in UK English "scheme" is neutral as a noun, negative as a verb; "fix" is neutral as a verb, and negative as a noun. Or is that just me?
In his first encyclical, Pope Leo XIV quotes J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.”

@gerrylynch@DrIanTerry@seatrout@LindaWoodhead Thanks - you're probably more international in your focus than my more specifically English thinking, but I shall very much hope for a published version of this!
@gerrylynch@seatrout@LindaWoodhead What exactly is your thesis topic? It sounds as though it may overlap with some things I've been pondering recently, and therefore I'm really quite curious.
Fascinated to find this statement being made in 1945 "many ordination candidates know their Bibles less well than most educated children fifty years ago". Plus ça change!
@LucySixsmith@jonkuhrt I don't think you should blame yourself for her misunderstanding. I haven't read your book (yet) but I thought your article was quite clear, and was bemused by this letter.
