I've been teaching in Ontario for a long time and I've seen so much negativity in, and around, education that I wanted to start an account to show educators some positivity.
Let me know who to follow and what you're looking for
While doing letter assessments in Pre-K today, I was showing a student letters in random order and asking him to identify them.
He stopped me mid-assessment and asked, “Wait. How am I supposed to look at these letters? Am I supposed to use my eyeballs?”
I said, “Well, that would probably be a good idea.”
Sir, I wasn't aware we had other options. 😭😂

The positive here is that all the #onted trustees that got in trouble for "overspending" are now qualified to become Education Ministers.
Another positive is that this is a great example of the hypocritical nature of the current government attitude for all to see.
NEW: Education Minister Paul Calandra tells me he's "very excited" to have Stan Cho on his team, and that the "quality of his work since he's been an MPP is literally second to none."
Premier Ford announced Cho will be joining Calandra’s team as a parliamentary assistant — just three months after Cho resigned from cabinet for charging taxpayers $16,000 in Toronto hotel stays.
The new role comes with a $22,500 pay bump. Ford declined to comment. Story: https://t.co/17FJwRaFm6
$117 million would cover the cost of employment of 1695 educational assistants for your kids' schools.
You got ads telling you how good things are in Ontario instead.

@emilycremi It really is!
And there is so much to think about and deal with while putting on that performance.
Thank you to all the educators that continue to show up and rock it everyday!!!
@ESL_fairy An excellent point. The main arguments inhear against smaller class sizes and any education improvement is cost. Always.
But it is a great ROI if done right.
@jillpromoli@fordnation You are absolutely right, which is why I made this account to spread some positive messages to people in the field.
There are enough accounts just spewing hatred so I thought I would be a bit of light in the darkness 🌞
@MmeLockhartLDS@MrZachG I think the issue is mainly in the common definition of "script" and then some people getting carried away with that.
the exact same lesson with the same wording all the time may not be best.
But if it isn't that than it's a guideline and not a script.
This is a very interesting discussion.
We definitely need more programs for youth, but we need to pay the people that run them a living wage and who pays for all of that?
Governments need to step up, but they barely find actual school as it is.
If parents want kids off screens, the substitute can NOT be, "Do fun things together instead!"
Few adults have 6 hours free after school. And kids long to play w/ EACH OTHER, not us.
Solution: KEEP SCHOOLS OPEN FOR ALL-AGE, NO-PHONES FREE PLAY.

@cam3768208@TolentinoTeach The balance is definitely in the middle.
There needs to be a lot of passion, but there also needs to be some sort of structure or end goal. That doesn't lead to a script with little wiggle room.
@MlleAnnaCroteau@StJuanDiegoOCSB This is such a great skill & routine to have.
Reading is so important for our students.
Thank you for all that you do!
