I signed the order establishing this new public holiday. It clearly states that it is both St Brigid's Day and Imbolc venerating both an Irish christian saint and our own ancient new year when we had our own gods and godesses (1/2)
This is exactly what it was like growing up in the 1980s.
I don’t think we realised how good it was for children. Children have so much oversight and monitoring today.
We've always known that Generation X is a unique breed. Listen to this guy explain it perfectly—it all makes complete sense.
We now live in a world that feels completely foreign compared to the way we were raised.
CAN EVERYONE PLEASE SHARE THIS POST FOR ME. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT
“Hi, I’m Katie.
I’ve been waiting for surgery for so long… pretty much my whole life.
Every day, the pain gets a bit worse — it’s in my hips, my legs, even when I’m just sitting or trying to sleep.
I just want to walk without pain, sleep through the night, and do the little things people my age get to do without thinking.
It’s really hard watching time go by, knowing I’m getting worse, not better.
I just want a chance to live without pain and I need your help to do that.
Every donation, every share, every kind word is really welcome.

For those of you who haven’t seen this video, I’m reposting it — because people need to understand exactly how far I’ve had to go for my daughter to be seen.
This was October, outside the Rochestown Park Hotel, where Fianna Fáil were having their “think-in.”
Inside, they were talking about Ireland’s future.
Outside, I was fighting for my child’s.
While politicians drank coffee and discussed policies, Katie was in agony, barely able to walk, her hip deteriorating day by day while the State did nothing.
I didn’t confront @MichealMartinTD for drama.
I didn’t do it for attention.
I did it because my daughter is running out of time, and nobody in power was listening.
He agreed to meet with us — but let’s be honest:
It only happened because he was publicly called out in front of journalists.
And for a brief moment, during the presidential elections, there was constant communication.
Emails. Responses. Promises.
I actually thought, maybe this is it — maybe Katie will finally get help.
But when the elections ended?
So did the replies.
Silence.
Nothing.
Not one update on the consultant he claimed was reviewing her case.
Not one ounce of urgency for a girl who cries in pain every single day.
Not one follow-up for a mother who is begging — literally begging — for help.
Do you know what that feels like?
To plead with your government while watching your daughter lose her mobility?
To stretch her legs because there’s no physiotherapy?
To see her miss school, miss life, miss her future — because of political silence?
This isn’t negligence.
This is abandonment.
Katie isn’t waiting for comfort.
She’s waiting for surgery that could save her ability to walk — and the only person who can give her that chance is in Florida: Dr. Paley.
So yes, I am asking again.
I will keep asking until my voice is louder than the silence we’ve been handed.
💔 Please help us get Katie to Florida. Help us save the mobility she is losing every single day.

An update from Noel (29th Oct interview on @NewstalkFM interview below)
I care full-time for my 78-year-old father, who has serious health issues and lives with me. I received Carer’s Allowance while also working 18.5 hours a week—the maximum allowed. After a review, however, I was told that because my employer paid me for my break times, I was suddenly no longer eligible. The Department of Social Protection then claimed I owed them €22,000 in “overpayments.”
On the 31st of October, I received another letter from the Appeals Department. They stated that they had reviewed my case again and that their original decision still stands.
I did receive confirmation from the Ombudsman that they have formally taken on my case. I genuinely hope they can highlight how unfit the current DSP policies and procedures are for carers in situations like mine.
As a full-time carer, I continue to feel exhausted, anxious, and worn down. This has been hanging over me for more than three years. I have done everything I can to keep us afloat, especially during a cost-of-living crisis. I know I have done absolutely nothing wrong. The criteria states you can work 18.5 hours a week, I worked 18.5 hours a week, and I am still under earnings limit for carers allowance.
Surely someone in a position of authority can step in—not only to address my case, but to recognise the wider problems affecting carers across Ireland.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far. It means more than you know

🚨 14-YEAR-OLD’S RESPONSE TO MEGYN KELLY’S EPSTEIN COMMENTS JUST SHOOK THE INTERNET
A 14-year-old girl named Eloise just uploaded a video that’s blowing up across social media and has triggered one of the biggest debates of the week.
She says she wasn’t even planning to speak because “this is an adult topic,” but after hearing Megyn Kelly describe Epstein’s victims as “the barely-legal type… like 15,” she decided someone her age needed to say something.
And she doesn’t hold back:
“Kids in my grade are turning 15 right now. Some of us still have baby faces. Some of us still have braces. Some of us still call our parents when we’re scared at night. Some of us STILL look like middle schoolers - because we basically are.”
“Under federal law, anyone under 18 is a child. No loopholes. No technicalities.”
But the part that detonated the internet is this:
“If a 14-year-old has to get online to explain this to a grown adult with a national platform… then SOMETHING is seriously wrong.”
“Kids my age shouldn’t have to be the moral compass in rooms full of adults.”
Now the clip is everywhere with people arguing law, ethics, wording, responsibility, media framing, and whether a 14-year-old should even be part of this conversation.
What’s the part of this situation no one wants to say out loud?
