"Our findings suggest that declining Fraser River Chinook returns may be reaching a point where [Southern Resident killer whales] cannot reliably meet their energetic needs, driving them to forage in areas outside of their traditional core summer habitat."
Exactly. It makes little sense to try and rehab dying corals (or species for that matter) if you don’t change the conditions which threatened them in the first place.

36-year-old killer whale Stella was moved from Port of Nagoya on March 29 to Kobe Suma, away from daughter Lynn and grandson Earth. It's unknown whether she has any conspecific companions at this time.
In the video clips, you can hear her distress calls.
I feel like everyone needs a little bit of good whales news so here's a photo of K45 Prosper looking big and healthy! 🥹❤️ She was the first surviving calf in K Pod in 11(!) years so it's very special to see her doing well. She will be 2 years old in April!

More J60 news:
Baby was encountered again yesterday (1/7) still traveling with the J16s but never left J42's side during the encounter. The leading CWR theory is that J42 is the mama but it will take more time tk know for sure.
Mama (whoever you are), fatten him up soon! 🥺
@onevoiceanimal So it is claimed CITES hasn’t signed off on the transfer, yet all the arrangements are in place.
Anyone know what’s really going on?

@ohayitscpa @d_delphinidae@AkulaEcho There is still a lack of credible evidence being made available here. This reads as a presumption of trusting an unsubstantiated claim, which can lead down a slippery slope of defamation. Where is the evidence?
J60 UPDATE:
so.............he might not be J40's baby 🧐 The plot.....thickens? J60 was seen on the 3rd (my birthday 🥹) tightly associating with J16 (seen in photos) who is post-reproductive. J40 was also encountered and there was no calf by her side.
