The Ganguly family of Shyamnagar is finally relieved. For several years, Somnath Shyam, the outgoing TMC MLA of Jagaddal, obstructed the plot of land belonging to this family on Bharat Chandra Roy Road in Shyamnagar by fencing it off and displaying outside the cordoned off area the ‘Biswa Bangla’ logo. The obstruction was allegedly imposed because the family refused to sell the land at the throwaway price offered by the MLA.

Yesterday, following the BJP’s victory in the West Bengal assembly election, party workers dismantled the barrier. Using bulldozers, they systematically demolished and razed to the ground all the walls that had been erected to block the property.
