#WATCH | Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), including the All India Bank Employees' Association (AIBEA), is holding a protest march in Bhopal as part of a nationwide strike over the delay in implementing a 5-day banking week, differences over performance-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, and several other pending demands, including pension-related issues.
🚨 BANKING DOESN’T RUN ON MACHINES. IT RUNS ON PEOPLE.
People who deserve weekends.
People who deserve balance.
People who deserve fair rewards for their work.
🔥 5 DAYS BANKING.
🔥 FAIR PLI.
🔥 NO DISCRIMINATION.
WE WORK. WE SERVE. WE STAND.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI
An agreement must be honoured. A reward system must be fair.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI
The 5 Day Work Week for bank employees was agreed in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. Its implementation cannot remain pending indefinitely.
At the same time, a unilateral and discriminatory PLI framework that divides the workforce must give way to a fair, transparent and inclusive system for all employees.
Every achievement of our banks is the outcome of collective effort.
Recognition too must reflect that collective contribution.
We seek no privilege, only implementation of an agreed commitment, equality in reward and dignity at work.
@PMOIndia
India’s Bank employees seek two things rooted in fairness and dignity at work.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI
The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.
At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.
Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.
A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

Another disturbing incident at @mahabank Ashti Branch, Jalna, Maharashtra highlighting the growing safety concerns for bankers.
The incident shown in this video is a stark reminder that attacks and intimidation against bank staff cannot be ignored.
Attacks on bankers are attacks on our financial system. Banks must be safe workplaces for those who keep the nation running.
Every day, bankers work under immense pressure and often risk their safety while serving the nation and keeping the economy moving.
We urge the authorities and the public to stand with bankers and ensure a safe and secure working environment for every banking professional.
.@sp_jalna Kindly intervene 🙏🏻

“'Bharat Mata ki Jai', 'Inquilab Zindabad', 'Jai Bheem' and 'Dharamendra Pradhan Istifa do' - stick to these four slogans only.
If any other slogan is raised shut them down.
They are looking to make narrative, we will not tolerate any negative slogans.”
- CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka at Jantar Mantar
The country boiled with outrage when a man dug up his sister's skeleton for money. But when a Gen-Z banker ends his life after enduring daily humiliation, shouting, and abuse from customers inside a branch, the silence is deafening.
We leave with smiles, gratitude, and heads held high after a season to be proud of 👏
Not everyone gets to script records, play with fire and make it to the playoffs. The season may be over, but the FIRE never stops burning! 🧡🔥
I received a representation from the SBI Staff Union seeking an immediate resolution of their long-pending demands. It’s disheartening to see the employees of India’s largest bank being forced to strike. This requires your immediate attention @nsitharaman
A better banking experience starts with a sustainable workweek. With acute staff shortages and mounting stress, 5-day banking is about public service and employee well-being, not a privilege.
UFBU has been pressing since 2015; IBA has already recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024) records the Saturday holiday clause, pending approvals/clearances.
Honour what’s on record. Approve all Saturdays off.

A disabled ex-serviceman, medically certified unfit to travel and caregiver to a critically ill wife, sought cancellation of deputation under law.
Response: show-cause notice, forced appearance, 4-hour wait, wife collapsing in office, and Leave Without Pay.
This is a prima facie violation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and Articles 14 & 21 of the Constitution.
If this is how @UCOBankOfficial treats disabled employees and ex-servicemen, what message does it send?

The implementation of #5DayBankingNow cannot remain caught between acknowledgment and action. The understanding was formally recorded, and bankers have continued to deliver consistently amid increasing operational and digital demands.
With banking services now functioning 24×7 through digital channels, the pressure on human resources has only intensified. Despite this, the agreed outcome of a five-day workweek remains unimplemented.
Bankers have honoured the settlement in both letter and spirit every working day. Policy commitments deserve the same seriousness in execution.
Assurances are meaningful only when translated into outcomes. It is time to move from intent to implementation, and from files to facts.
#5DayBankingNow
When the world is moving to a 4-day week, and banking is already 24x7 in the digital era, bankers asking for a 5-day week isn’t a luxury. It’s justice.
IBA has agreed. The understanding is signed.
Now the Government must honour its commitment – no more excuses, no more delays.
Respect the Settlement. Deliver it.
We demand #5DayBankingNow
