At the #IndiaEnergyWeek2026 Leadership Panel, #ONGC Director (Exploration) @opsinhaONGC outlined a bold, future-ready vision for scaling Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage (CCUS), from millions of tonnes today to gigatonnes for generations to come.

“Planetary scale means ensuring safe storage for centuries, building integrated CO₂ storage ecosystems, and enabling collaboration across industries and borders.”

Reinforcing that CCUS is more than a technology, he described it as a critical bridge between today’s energy security and tomorrow’s net-zero future. With sub-surface CO₂ injection at the core, ONGC is advancing plans for India’s first CO₂ sequestration demonstration project at Gandhar, alongside multiple pilots, innovative business models, and enabling incentives to unlock India’s CCUS potential.

At 4 pm driving with my wife on the Zirakpur flyover. Two Punjab Police jeeps escorting a VIP towards Ambala come from behind with sirens blaring. Slowed the vehicle to let the first vehicle pass, the VIP vehicle perhaps took three additional seconds to pass because there was heavy traffic. Angered, the rear escort jeep, while overtaking from the left, deliberately cut sharply right, hitting the front of my car and then sped off. It was clearly a deliberate act, not only damaging the car, but with no concern of our personal safety on a very crowded road. The arrogance and impunity of someone who is supposed to be a guardian of law soils the uniform and reputation of the organisation. Hope @BhagwantMann and @DGPPunjabPolice take note.

In a significant step towards harnessing green energy, #ONGC has joined hands with The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd. (TGREDCO) for the exploration and development of the Manuguru Geothermal Field in the Pranhita Godavari (PG) Basin, Telangana. This tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 2 August 2024, in the presence of SCCL’s CMD N Balram, IRS, ONGC Director (Exploration) @SushmaRawatONGC, SCCL Director (Planning & Projects) G Venkateswara Reddy, TGREDCO Vice Chairman & Managing Director N Janaiah at Singareni Bhavan, Hyderabad.

The MoU marks a historic milestone in #India's transition towards sustainable energy sources, reflecting ONGC's commitment to pioneering innovative energy solutions.

The Manuguru Geothermal Field initiative underscores ONGC's strategic vision of leveraging advanced geothermal technology to contribute to India's renewable energy landscape. The collaboration with SCCL and TGREDCO aims to unlock the geothermal potential of the PG Basin, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
