65 FREE SURGERIES FOR 65 CHILDREN
Yesterday, I attended the final follow-up clinic and appreciation programme at Mother Mary Hospital, Isolo, Lagos, following the successful completion of 65 free surgeries for children to mark my 65th birthday.
I am deeply grateful to God Almighty for guiding the medical team throughout the process and for granting all 65 children safe and successful surgeries.
The surgeries, led by Dr Folaseye Adebayo and her dedicated team, included adenotonsillectomy. This procedure removes enlarged or chronically infected tonsils and adenoids, which can cause breathing difficulties, recurrent infections, and sleep-related problems in children.
What made the occasion particularly touching was listening to parents share their testimonies and hearing how these procedures have improved their children’s health and quality of life.
My profound appreciation goes to @DrFolaseye Adebayo and her entire team, the hospital management, the parents, and everyone who contributed to making this initiative possible.
For me, birthdays are not merely occasions for celebration. They are opportunities to give back, touch lives, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
I thank God for the privilege of being part of this initiative and, most importantly, for the gift of 65 healthy and hopeful children.
May God continue to bless all those who dedicate their lives to saving and improving the lives of others.

The classic neurological physical sign demonstrated in the video frames—where one eye winks or the upper eyelid involuntarily twitches/elevates in sync with jaw movements (chewing or swallowing)—is Marcus Gunn Jaw-Winking Phenomenon (or Marcus Gunn ptosis).
Pathophysiology:
Aberrant Innervation (Synkinesis): It is a congenital motor synkinesis caused by miswiring of the cranial nerves during fetal development.
Nerve Cross-Talk: Branches of the trigeminal nerve (\text{CN V}_3), which innervate the muscles of mastication (such as the external pterygoid muscle), aberrantly innervate the levator palpebrae superioris muscle (normally supplied by the oculomotor nerve, \text{CN III}).
Mechanism: When the jaw moves during chewing, opening, or side-to-side motion, motor impulses intended for the masticatory muscles mistakenly stimulate the levator muscle, causing the affected eyelid to wink, retract, or twitch rhythmically
THIS SHEHU BUBA STORY SHOULD TERRIFY NIGERIANS
A young man reportedly fled Nigeria after raising allegations linking Senator Shehu Buba to terrorism.
Now comes the explosive claim: the senator allegedly sent his PA after him into Niger Republic — only for Nigerien authorities to arrest the PA.
The whistleblower was reportedly detained too, presented his evidence, and was released.
If these reports are true, forget politics for a moment: what exactly is going on?
A Nigerian senator. Terrorism allegations. A critic fleeing across the border. An alleged attempt to track him down in another country.
And Nigeria is supposed to treat this like normal political gossip?
This deserves a serious investigation.

Once you go to villages to do medical outreach and you tell anyone that they have hypertension or diabetes, they may lay curses on you
They prefer you telling them that they have sugar or bp
Ruptured Ectopic Pregnancy (with Hemoperitoneum) - Kehr's Sign
Sudden onset of referred pain in the left shoulder in a pregnant woman is the classic Kehr's sign: diaphragmatic irritation from free intraperitoneal blood (via the phrenic nerve, C3-C5). This is the cause that must be ruled out first due to its immediate lethality, especially if the gestational age is consistent with the first trimester.
Immediate evaluation is necessary:
Hemodynamic stability (tachycardia, hypotension, pallor, signs of shock)
Quantitative β-hCG
Ultrasound (transvaginal/abdominal) looking for an adnexal mass, free fluid, and absence of an intrauterine gestational sac
Complete blood count with serial hematocrit measurements
If hemodynamic instability is present with a high clinical suspicion, ultrasound confirmation should not be awaited before activating the operating room: emergency laparotomy/laparoscopy.
Nephrotic syndrome drops your albumin killing intravascular oncotic pressure,Fluid leaks everywhere.
Why the eyes? Periorbital tissue is very loose (lowest tissue hydrostatic pressure). Fluid takes the path of least resistance.
Sleep flat for 8 hours,it pools in the face. 📉👀
if a pregnant woman is unresponsive after CPR for 5 minutes... the doctors will open her up on the spot, even if they aren't in the theatre... and bring out the baby... without anaesthesia.
it is to actually save the mother... not even the baby👀👀💀... because the baby is pressing on the large blood vessels taking blood to the brain and heart...
