@beatmastermatt@BradSmithWI Glad to see it! No congressperson should represent 700,000 people. Thats insane. I'm curious what you think the max should be?
Morning headlines:
"Here's why Abdul El-Sayed's 1% win should be considered a huge loss for progressives"
but also
"Here's why Crowley's 0.5% win is a resounding centrist mandate for data centers and more bombs"
Generational change is here. There’s a crucial pickup opportunity in #MA08, where we can replace conservative Democrat Stephen Lynch (age 71) with progressive @PatrickRoath (age 39)
consider the possibility that polls & betting markets pretend to be legit snapshots to help you stay calm and feel like things are under control…
…when in reality they are often delusional hallucinations & you need to learn to stay calm knowing that nothing is under control
.@LeadersWeDeserv just took down our first state leg incumbent in Wisconsin! Ismael Luna beat a Dem rep. who threatened to shoot 3 colleagues.
26-year-old Luna, who was homeless at 14 and now helps house people for a living, will serve in WI-AD-08.
DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST MARYAM KHAN WINS ELECTION FOR CT STATE SENATE DISTRICT 2 🌹
Tonight, we have made history and elected Connecticut’s FIRST DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST STATE SENATOR!
El-Sayed is overperforming the benchmarks in rural areas by TWELVE and in Trump-leaning areas by EIGHT
Good argument that Abdul is more electable in the general
Bad night for Elissa Slotkin. She endorsed the 3rd place candidate in her prior district, helping her least preferred candidate. She didn't endorse (or recruit) in the Senate race. She may now get less attention than MI's other senator & loses stature as a Midwest savant.
Jon is joined by U.S. Senator John Fetterman (@SenFettermanPA) for discussion on the Democratic Party, Israel, and the issues that continue to shape his politics. New podcast out tomorrow!
I know Stevens ran on electability. But don’t forget: Trump won MI by just about 1 point in 2024.
Three reasons El-Sayed can win in November:
1. He will not lose young voters like Harris did.
2. Trump voters less engaged & less likely than Dems to vote in midterm;
3. Medicaid cuts, tariffs & war hard to defend and unlikely to become more popular over next few months.
