Came here to brag about @GeorgetownLaw's criminal clinics. Yesterday we won our 50th compassionate release case (since 2020)! Some people talk about decarceration, but our E. Barrett Prettyman fellows and clinic students actually do it! And that's on top of our trial work!!!
Yes! Don’t be distracted by the foolishness. As Toni Morrison said, “The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being.”
NEW: Power Design will pay $3.75 million and overhaul its labor practices after allowing subcontractors to engage in a sweeping illegal worker misclassification scheme impacting 1,200+ construction workers.
This is the largest workers’ rights enforcement action in DC history.
NEW: DC fine dining restaurant Swahili Village and its executives will pay $526,973 to its workers and to the District for systematically stealing wages and tips from servers, hosts, runners, bussers, and bartenders.

To my colleagues and friends: thank you for the love and support over this past week. It is an honor to do this work and I do not take my responsibility as a scholar and teacher lightly. My team @NLawCRDJ is incredible and we wanted to take some time to set the record straight...
The complaint reeks of desperation and poor lawyering—completely undermining the myth of white male superiority. It also reveals the vicious lengths uber-radical conservatives will go to to stop the inevitable progress of POC & Black women, especially. https://t.co/UVxhceMU9F
One of the Black women recently hired at NULaw @JameliaNMorgan writes cutting edge, field defining work at the intersection of disability and policing. She threatens white heteronormative thought. Her work makes you want to be a better scholar. No wonder she’s a target.
I’m incredibly proud of the work our inaugural group of Civil Justice Clinic @GeorgetownLaw students accomplished this semester, advocating for workers experiencing wage theft and successfully securing workers’ unemployment benefits. Client-centered and justice-focused!
#DidYouKnow only 3 out of 10 common jobs for Black #workers pay over $15/hr, compared to 7 out of 10 for white workers?
We need equitable pay for a #GoodJobsEconomy. 📈 https://t.co/utHbdgHKyH
@JeffSharlet@dartmouth Those cops were brutal to me. I promise I did absolutely nothing wrong. I was standing with a line of women faculty in the their 60s to 80s trying to protect our students. I have now been banned from the campus where I have taught for 34 years.
On March 25, 1911, a fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory became one of the worst workplace disasters since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. The fire took the lives of 146 young immigrant garment workers & galvanized a reform movement to raise standards for workers.
Let's stop the narrative that raising the minimum wage would stop tips. Listen in as @Nytimes talks about a bill we helped pass in Washington, D.C. that proves what we're doing is effective &gives a boost to service workers.
Tell us, do service charges confuse you? #OneFairWage
