Delighted to have contributed to this collection on the theme of Victims' Access to Justice by Cox and Walklate. Thanks to my co-author @vedkumari@Nluo_Official. We sketch historical developments in India over the last 50 years. #Mathura#Nirbhaya#VAW https://t.co/KW76KXbjUv
The Palestinian Presidency expressed deep regret and astonishment at the decision of the U.S. Department of State not to grant visas to the Palestinian delegation scheduled to participate in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings in September.
The Presidency stressed that this decision stands in clear contradiction to international law and the UN Headquarters Agreement, particularly since the State of Palestine is an observer member of the United Nations.
The Gaza Famine is the world’s famine. A preventable, predictable famine. Enough. Ceasefire. Open all crossings, north and south. Let us get food in, unimpeded and at massive scale.
Saeed Naji Zomlot, the cousin closest to my heart, was killed by Israel. We last spoke four days ago. Saeed told me his children were starving and he had no choice but to go north of #Gaza in search of food. I asked him to be careful. He went—and never came back.
Today, the family confirmed his death. An Israeli missile struck him and those around him as they searched for food for their children.
I promise Saeed: we will care for your children and all our children. We will never forget. We will never forgive—until the war criminals are held fully accountable.
For us, I told @PiersUncensored, the life of one Palestinian child is worth the world.
I appreciate the journey Piers travelled in reaching the truth, and respect his acknowledgement at the end of this interview the many mistakes committed by mainstream media since Oct 2023 and before. Link to the full interview https://t.co/WaDGuPfppM
19. At the same time we should recognize that @UKLFI is vector of false information about the Gaza death toll and should not be taken seriously on this subject.

I, along with many fellow journalists, signed the letter demanding the Royal Television Society reinstate its Award for Palestinian Journalists. I welcome the RTS promise to U-turn but there’s still a big question mark over its decision making process https://t.co/hfvB9rr7EK

Over 60 MPs from eight parties have now backed my Parliamentary motion calling for sanctions on Israel.
Israel is carrying out war crime after war crime.
Our Government must impose widespread sanctions on Israel to force it to stop.
The row back by some media outlets over their reporting of the events in the immediate aftermath of the Amsterdam riots is quite something. Alas, it’s too late. This will become an example of how, when the basic rules of reporting are ignored, public trust in the media is eroded
RIP Paul Stephenson, who has died aged 87. He organised the successful Bristol bus boycott of 1963, now recognised as an important moment in British social history - by winning the argument against racial discrimination in practice, and then in law too.

“The consequences of inadequate coverage are significant. Every television report, article and radio interview that has failed to robustly challenge Israeli claims has systematically dehumanised Palestinians,” @BBCNews staff

After the Israeli parliament voted to effectively ban the UN's Palestinian refugee agency Unrwa, Michael Fakhri, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, tells #R4Today 'the only way forward is for the UN General Assembly to unseat Israel'.
Just completed a study with Cambridge University + @UNRWA:
🧷 The ongoing war in #Gaza will set children & young people’s #education back by up to five years.
🧷 It risks creating a lost generation of traumatized Palestinian children and youth.
🧷 Continuous shock & suffering are shaping children’s world views, threatening their faith in the future + in human rights.
🧷 14 months out of school so far have increased the proportion of children unable to read a basic text by the age of 10.
Restoring education in Gaza is the first step to restoring our collective humanity for the sake of an entire generation of children.
