I'd neglected to post this 2015 short paper, "Can College Sports Unions Save College Sports and Save Unions?", but it remains relevant in light of recognition this year that collective bargaining may offer the best hope for controlling college sports costs https://t.co/BShDH7lUxv
...(5) Three new FT faculty colleagues bringing courses like The Law of American Policing, Business Bankruptcy, and International Human Rights to our students.

At #GTMO this week observing 9/11 proceedings. Today- defense argument that pre-trial agreement could not be withdrawn, since Rule 705 of the Military Commission Manual allows cancellation "at any time before the accused begins performance of promises contained in the agreement"
Defense argues KSM has begun to perform under the pretrial agreement by preparing detailed documentation of his role. 9/11 families have begun to submit questions as per the agreement. Defense counsel asks if Manual should be viewed like Jack Sparrow's Pirate's Code.
#GTMO defense lawyers have contacted legal ethics advisors to ask if they can continue to participate in proceedings in light of termination of pre-trial agreements.
That's a wrap on my section of the summer Name, Image and Likeness course. We talked NIL basics, evolution and current status, contract provisions for NIL deals, negotiation and risks. My @UTCOBI co-teachers have the ball from here to cover personal branding and personal finance
Agreed! Our summer '24 course @UToledo on navigating NIL includes a unit on personal finance and budgeting, covering creating budgets + retirement planning. Outgoing @OhioState AD Says Financial Literacy Crucial for Athletes in NIL Era https://t.co/S6EDOGnHt7 via @11W

At @UtoledoLaw we offered our first marijuana law course five years ago in 2019 to introduce law students to the emerging industry. Next year we expand coverage in the course to include psychelics: Cannabis courses growโbut not fast enough https://t.co/AKABseglHj via @ABAJournal
A hearty congratulations to the 24 newly minted @utoledolaw J.D.s who graduated #UToledo23 today, including those I had the chance to present and hood at Savage Arena. Can't wait to see what great things these future lawyers and leaders will accomplish!

Since joining @utoledolaw, my coauthor & ten-year colleague @EricChaffee was Prof of the Year x 4, 1L Teacher of the Year x 5, won campus-wide teaching awd, campus-wide scholarship awd, & named to @utoledo's top faculty rank. Best wishes on next yr's new adventures! #utoledo23
That this award is named for a dear friend, mentor and colleague who meant so much to me as a new professor (and frankly, as a new adult), is particularly meaningful, even though it still hurts that we lost Beth Eisler way too soon.
I'm humbled to have received the Beth Eisler 1L Teaching Award at #utoledo23@utoledolaw graduation today. Teaching 1Ls - this group no exception - is one of the great joys of being a law professor. Watching them grow into fantastic lawyers-to-be like the class of '23 is another!
