SAMAKI ("fish" in Swahili) is a six-year (2021-2026) research and capacity-building project, involving institutions in Tanzania and Norway. Funded by Norad.
SAMAKI formally began in January 2021, as a collaboration led by the @UiTNorgesarktis with three partners in Tanzania, @UdsmOfficial, @StateSuza, and Zanzibar Fisheries and Marine Resources Research Institute (ZAFIRI) together with other two in Norway, @UiB, and @Havforskningen

The newest WIOMSA publication, “Seagrass in Tanzania: Guidelines to Support Restoration” was recently launched at the Seagrass Mapping and Management (SWIM2) Project in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Funded by WIOMSA through the MASMA program, this publication is a key outcome from the project, “Ecosystem-based protection of the coastal zone: the effectiveness of the seagrass meadows in coastal erosion management.”🌿
