A high-level team from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) is in ๐บ๐ฌ as part of an appraisal mission for the second phase of the Local Economic Growth Support (LEGS) Project. The delegation visited Kyejonjo and Katakwi districts to assess the impact of LEGS I interventions on community livelihoods and service delivery. Their engagements with district leaders, project beneficiaries, and implementers provided valuable insights to inform the planned scale-up of the project from 17 to 55 districts. I had the honour of commissioning the UGX 428M Agule Livestock Market in Kumi a powerful step forward for over 500 livestock traders. After 15+ years in makeshift shelters, farmers now have a modern facility with vet services, poultry cages, water sources & more.
This market isnโt just infrastructure itโs a livelihood booster and value chain enabler. Under #LEGS, Kumi has also received the UGX 721M Kakuresi-Kamaca Road, UGX 1.2B Kanapa Water Scheme, Tisai Milk Centre, and tractors for 3 cooperatives.
With 227 cows inseminated by trained AI technicians, rural transformation is happening backed by @isdb_group & @LLF_fund donors.
Letโs protect these gains through proper maintenance & community ownership. Grateful to the resilient people of Kumi @KumiDistrict

Buseeta Milk Collection Centre, Kibuku, Eastern ๐บ๐ฌ - Quick Facts:
1. Managed by Kibuku District Dairy Farmer Cooperative - 361 members now up from 40 in 2018.
2. Ush.667 million invested in the facility.
3. 6,000-litre milk cooler and backup generator procured.
4. 8 community extension workers trained in artificial insemination techniques.
