This week, the @MoLGUganda conducted an assessment of the @LEGSUganda Project in Buikwe District, focusing on its impact on revenue collection. Through the @MSCuganda the project disbursed 1.454 billion shillings in soft loans to 19 SACCOs across 12 sub-counties.

[Local Economic Growth Support Project - Uganda @LEGSUganda]

A high-level team from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) is in 🇺🇬 as part of an appraisal mission for the second phase of the Local Economic Growth Support (LEGS) Project. The delegation visited Kyejonjo and Katakwi districts to assess the impact of LEGS I interventions on community livelihoods and service delivery. Their engagements with district leaders, project beneficiaries, and implementers provided valuable insights to inform the planned scale-up of the project from 17 to 55 districts. The team also explored future funding opportunities with a focus on climate resilience and long-term sustainability.@GovUganda

Over the weekend, one of the LEGS II appraisal mission delegates took a spin on a solar-powered bike during the field visit to Katakwi! ⚡🚴‍♂️ A firsthand experience of how clean energy solutions ("no noise, no fumes") are transforming rural mobility and livelihoods under the #LEGSProject. I had the honour of commissioning the UGX 428M Agule Livestock Market in Kumi a powerful step forward for over 500 livestock traders. After 15+ years in makeshift shelters, farmers now have a modern facility with vet services, poultry cages, water sources & more.

This market isn’t just infrastructure it’s a livelihood booster and value chain enabler. Under #LEGS, Kumi has also received the UGX 721M Kakuresi-Kamaca Road, UGX 1.2B Kanapa Water Scheme, Tisai Milk Centre, and tractors for 3 cooperatives.

With 227 cows inseminated by trained AI technicians, rural transformation is happening backed by @isdb_group & @LLF_fund donors.

Let’s protect these gains through proper maintenance & community ownership. Grateful to the resilient people of Kumi @KumiDistrict

Buseeta Milk Collection Centre, Kibuku, Eastern 🇺🇬 - Quick Facts:
1. Managed by Kibuku District Dairy Farmer Cooperative - 361 members now up from 40 in 2018.
2. Ush.667 million invested in the facility.
3. 6,000-litre milk cooler and backup generator procured.
4. 8 community extension workers trained in artificial insemination techniques.
5. 300+ cows artificially inseminated with high yielding dairy cattle breeds, producing 120 calves. @MoLGUganda
