It’s turn 1; you’re on the play. You just revealed Devourer of Destiny from your opening hand and put Leonardo, Cutting Edge on top of your library. Your opponent is playing a non-blue deck. How do you win this turn?
I see this whenever anyone expresses disdain for Universes Beyond cards. Why should long time enfranchised players tolerate being forced out in settler-colonialism caused by UB fans? They assume getting more players is always good regardless of the cost to the game itself.
@brownliberite Every time the UK wants to make some new agreement with the EU about something mutually beneficial they tried to force UK politicians to make some concession over fishing rights. Last year Starmer agreed to the current levels until 2038, removing annual negotiations. It's a joke.
@TheTruestErin I feel the same way.
I know I'm beating a dead horse, but my mental improved dramatically when I took a step back from the game & put my effort into something else. Every UB set was inflicting psychic damage to me, now I watch from afar hoping but not believing it will improve.
@CuckMyBiscuits@blasmophart@masoneclark This statement was clearly aiming a jab at YGO. But MTG managed quite well with a reasonable level of power creep, it has only been since 2019 that power creep accelerated. Go compare Legacy lists from 2012-2019 and 2019-2026 lists.
@Ya_nagy1987@fabtcg I agree with this, it seems a necessary level of transparency if the community will vote on the bans.
Maybe they are scared of people seeing the number of enfranchised players globally?
@774_4510 Given WOTC does not support Legacy with tournaments except eternal weekend I think this is the only way to keep the format accessible to new players. Legacy players now are old comparatively.
In my experience playing with playtest cards encourages people to buy real cards!
@774_4510 The impression I get from on social media: In Japan players would rather you play a weaker deck and everyone plays with what they own. In the west it is the opposite, we would rather people play the game totally even if they don't own the cards, so printing playtest cards is OK.
@Adeptfever This thing single handedly ruined legacy for 6 months when Kamigawa released and the MH3 designers were like "yeah let's reprint it in modern". Mind-boggling.
@SaffronOlive They do this in Yu-Gi-Oh and the reality of actually trying to enforce it lead to the current time rules which have been received very poorly by the community.
British politics will reach a new reductio ad absurdum in the Makerfield by election:
Vote Labour to destroy the sitting Labour Prime Minister.
Support Labour PM Starmer but NOT voting Labour.
We are having a by-election not because there’s any demand or need in the national interest but entirely to suit the convenience of the byzantine politics of the ruling party and the political pygmies in whose interest it is run.
We are no longer a serious nation. No wonder the bond markets are squiffy.
Britain is now only just above Russia and Hungary on trans rights.
We are below Armenia, Romania, Kosovo, Turkey, Serbia and Belarus.
The anti-trans movement has, for now, won a decisive victory in Britain.
It will not last.
This historic injustice will be rectified.
Just took my 93yr grandmother to vote, she’s registered blind. In a very loud voice she said, “which box for Islamism and bigger boobs?” A cheer went up from the waiting voters.
