SoloTop Dev for the Apple Vision Pro Developer strap is now available! I also now added a new orange color variant, which I must say looks rather striking.

@iBrews It’s like production just said “act with your natural accent, we’ll fix it in post”
And then there’s that 2 minute dialogue in actual French with subtitles. Incredibly confusing decision there.
Would have otherwise been significantly more immersive imo.
@nchan I figured people would resell my design as their own, but impersonating me and my brand to take advantage of people kinda crossed the line for me.
All of that to say, I’d be happy to get the 3D files to you to print. I’ll shoot ya a DM.
The Apple Vision Pro just got a bit more comfortable without looking like a hack job. My SoloTop adapter is now available on Etsy! I both Print & Ship and 3D Print Files available for sale.

@nchan I actually had to take the Etsy listing down just a couple of hours ago because I caught wind of some scammers not only reselling my files on other marketplaces, but doing it by impersonating my name, pictures of me, descriptions, etc. 1/2
@iBrews Was just about to make a post about this, glad to see you got it working! I've been checking the repo almost daily since June of last year haha
Was incredibly excited to see this one come through. Lots of work to go, but I'm glad they've finally got a device to test on!
@InAPlaceLikeAMC The gray ended up getting about 10% more requests than the Orange, and Gray is a bit faster to produce anyways. I custom mix my resins for strength, durability, and coloring, so it can be a time consuming endeavor. Orange is not abandoned though!
Have finalized the fit, material, and finish of the v1 SoloTop for the Vision Pro, a more native looking Solo Knit top strap adapter. It’s very comfortable! Will be posting store links in the next few days! (Both 3D printable files and printed/shipped from me)

"How can XR naturally empower our daily lives such that we hardly notice it exists?"
The following prototype is my recent attempt at exploring that very question. Interested in a deeper dive?

It still bothers me a little that the top strap scrunches up a little and doesn’t lay perfectly flat against my head. Will tilt the strap back a few more degrees.
Since my last post I’m now on v4 of the SoloTop top strap adapter for the Vision Pro. Slimmed down the adapter even further, canted the strap clips inward a little, moved the hinge point forward, and lowered the strap as far as I could. I’m getting very close! 🧵
Once I add the next few tweaks I’d definitely consider this a pretty viable & convenient comfort increase. Only having to rotate two small knobs directly next to each other is so smooth. Props to the solo knit strap team.
SoloTop prototype v2. v1 has a couple small issues that others pointed out early; top strap too high & too vertical. v2 rotated by 20° & lowered ~1cm. Still not enough as you can see in the pics, but still more comfortable. 🧵
better scratch resistant. Will also end up being a nice grey. Most of the form submissions have been leaning towards grey anyways, and I think I like that color the most anyways, so it works out. The black one in the pictures is just for prototypes at the moment.
@SS2_spacewrench This is a great observation and one that I also came across yesterday when testing my first design. I've actually updated the design a little bit so that the top strap is now angled 20 degrees back. Currently printing, and will test later tonight. Will post an update later!
Inspired by u/grimdar on Reddit, I decided to make a more native looking Solo Band top strap adapter that I'm calling the SoloTop.
Currently post processing some engineering-grade resin prints and will be testing shortly. Would anyone be interested in a set?
