This should end the debate. Last season Suzuki was better than Matthews but it was the only season. I’m not a leafs fan but you have to give credit to some of their guys. We know they haven’t been successful but they WILL wear you down.
People really gotta stop saying Suzkie can perform in playoffs and matthews can’t cause of them making ECF.
I see people use Montreal making the ECF as proof that Suzuki is a better playoff player than Matthews. and also last playoffs suzkie was also outproduced at 5v5 by Newhook, Danault, Evans, Guhle, Texier, Bolduc, Anderson and Carrier.
But when you actually compare their playoff numbers, Matthews has been the more productive and well-rounded player. i get matthews has played more playoffs games but i’ll put the stats per game to.
Auston Matthews — 68 GP
• 59 points(.87ppg)
• 54.2% FOW
• 199 hits(2.93 per game)
• 88 blocks(1.29 per game)
• 76 takeaways(1.12 per game)
• +2
• 43 giveaways(.63 per game)
• 21:00 TOI/GP
Nick Suzuki — 56 GP
• 41 points(.73 per game )
• 48.0% FOW
• 114 hits(2.004 per game)
• 50 blocks(.89 per game)
• 38 takeaways(.68 per game)
• -16
• 52 giveaways(.93 per game)
• 20:24 TOI/GP
Yes, Suzuki has made the ECF and Matthews hasn’t.
But team success ≠ individual performance.
The narrative makes Suzuki sound like he’s been a better playoff performer than Matthews, when the numbers show otherwise.

@Attick47@matthews2hell Who was saying your 2021 run wasn’t good? Also you guys were carried by Weber and Price. But they are on the team you can count on 20 million dollars worth of guys to carry you.
@SpidermanVennom@PuckLineNews You’re just hating to hate them. Matthews has been injured visibly the past 2 seasons. The season he had 69 goals he wasn’t with Marner that season. Yes the cap hit is something but I think 50% of it was Babcock and Dubas culture. I don’t like them but credit their players.
@Attick47@matthews2hell I think we are forgetting that I'm not a leafs fan and think their core 4 era was unacceptable and unjustifiable, but quite frankly, you guys haven't faced the matchup they have yet with your young core.
@Attick47@matthews2hell Hey, I completely agree with the first part. But you have to realize that lightning team was a shell of itself from even when the leafs beat them. And Buffalo was an inexperienced, injured young team.
@Attick47@matthews2hell why I said one or two exceptions but you have to remember how stacked that columbus team was and also how good price and weber were
@Attick47@matthews2hell Don't get me wrong, I'm not a leafs fan, but you guys faced way worse teams than they faced over the 10 years.... with one or two exceptions, arguably
