We forecasted correctly for yesterday and the forecast seems correct also for today looking the heavy rain happening now in Powai. A snapshot from https://t.co/KNrsSVSnjN, you may start following the webportal, though we are updating it and adding a few new experimental services.
(1/3) Powai received 125 mm of rain in the last 6 hours, with most of it falling within just 3–4 hours. This monsoon, Mumbai has seen late-night/early-morning, short-duration but extremely high-intensity rainfall events that severely stress urban infrastructure. #MumbaiRains
🌧️🟢Moderate rainfall is forecasted for the next three days, with the onset of the monsoon over Mumbai likely tomorrow.
Stay tuned and stay weather-aware.

A paper close to both @rmurtugudde and me: hyperlocal extreme rainfall forecasting for Mumbai. More than a new ML model—it was operational on https://t.co/KNrsSVSnjN during 2024 & 25 (and will be in 2026), serving 70,000+ users, helping @mybmc https://t.co/B63lGP9vCl @Pujaiitb
How good were our 2025 experimental forecasts? Our models were able to capture heavy rainfall events even 2–3 days in advance, underlining the importance of multi–lead-day forecasts for early warning systems. 🌧️
🌧️With the end of 2025 monsoon, we’re wrapping up our experimental daily rainfall forecasts.
Forecasts will return with the onset of 2026 monsoon!
