There's about 15 mins of The Big Bang I think are brilliant, but the rest of the 2-parter leaves me utterly baffled, with too many "wanky Smith speeches".

@David_Kitchen_ @PullToOpen63 It's classic McCoy - some great ideas and guest actors, but far, far too much plot and too many characters. The first episode takes forever before the Doctor and Ace reach the circus. The Doctor walking away unflinching when the tent blows up is fantastic, though.

I think TP McKenna just rocks up & gives the usual TP McKenna performance, & I don't get the Captain Cook character.

Lots of ideas I like, some good design, a couple of GREAT performances (& some bad ones... TP) but doesn't come together for me.
