The Memes are 4 years old today
1/ every week, we support public domain art, science, and the infrastructure buildout of a decentralized network state
2/ now 4th in market cap after punks, bayc, pengus
3/ delusionally, irrationally, unreasonably ambitious goals
4/ it is not too late to get involved; in fact, we are just getting started

There are several benefits to having an open-source, CC0 public library of digital art and culture such as The Memes by 6529 @punk6529:
Accessibility (beauty made freely usable by anyone).
Remixability (canvas for anyone to use)
Education
Cultural propagation and record.
But one of the biggest long-term benefits of The Memes may be creating a curated artist graph for the AI age..... and done so using an on-chain decentralized community. In a world where infinite images can be generated instantly, curation may become more valuable, not less?
The question shifts from: “Can an image be made?”
to:
“Who should we care about?”
“Who has cultural legitimacy?”
“Who has taste?”
“Who has provenance?”
“Who has earned trust from a real community?”
The Memes offers one possible answer: a community-curated, on-chain, open-source network of artists, collectors, builders, and ideas.
Maybe part of the future is AI needing better ways to find the artists, communities, and cultural networks that actually matter? Feels directionally correct but very early days.

I don't care how many signers your multisig has, if all of the private keys exist on a single internet connected device then it's a hot wallet.
Humanity secured a billion dollar protocol with a hot wallet.
Our statement on the UK government’s demand that all content on all devices sold or used in the country be scanned, on the presumption of nudity, using a dystopian combination of age verification and content scanning. This proposal will not safeguard children. It endangers us all.

The idea that NFT grails are priced in USD instead of ETH feels like a bear market narrative.
Value is interchangeable instantly. ETH, USD, stables, etc. it doesn’t matter.
What matters is wealth.
Art is upstream of wealth. Ethereum art is upstream of Ethereum wealth.
Bearish ETH is bearish NFTs. Bullish ETH is bullish NFTs.
If ETH goes to $20k, I suspect the USD value of the best NFTs goes exponentially higher, and many of them rise in ETH terms too.
Nothing is more bullish for NFTs than ETH.
We’ve just finished a whitehat operation on an exploit discovered in Flooring Protocol.
Now safely in the custody of Yuga Labs:
29 bored apes
4 mutant apes
1 bakc
2 cryptopunks
1 azuki
2 elementals
26 captains
1 moonbird
2 doodles
@0xQuit, our VP of Blockchain recovered the NFTs. Will leave the details for him to go over in a separate thread.
There was an exploit earlier this morning on the same protocol which had left some collections already raided. Huge shout to @coffeedev who found that by tweaking the same exploit, there was an even larger risk to other Flooring collections like BAYC and Cryptopunks.
I quietly instructed our GrailsOTC trading desk to front the money and NFTs to rescue the at-risk assets from the protocol.
We will work together with the protocol devs to return these assets once a solution is sorted. Could mean contract relaunches and token reassurances within that protocol - or more.
But thanks to this move we were able to save dozens of assets from impacting the market and flooring protocol tokens from being compromised.

Very thankful to have just acquired the remaining 805 Meebits from the historic Larva Labs collection.
With this acquisition, the Collection becomes the largest Meebits assemblage in the world with 1036 works including Meebit #8368, the extremely rare Dissected.
