I remember my staff coming into work saying a plane has crashed into one of the towers.

Then watched the second plane going into the south tower…..realising this could not be an accident.

I remember exactly where I was on September 11th 2001 - I was in university at the time, and watched the second plane hitting the south tower live on TV. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Yesterday, alongside the US Ambassador Warren Stephens, Director General of MI5, Sir Ken McCallum, and the Met Police Deputy Commissioner, Matt Jukes, we paid tribute to the thousands murdered by Islamist terrorists, including 67 British people, at the US Embassy memorial service.

Twenty-five years on, their families still carry that loss. We all still mourn them. It was a terrible day for not just in the US, for the UK and the world. We will never forget them.

Children in England are in the top ten in the world for reading, maths and science.

That’s thanks to Conservative reforms that prioritised high standards in education and pushed children to achieve their potential.

Labour, in contrast, are driving through reforms that will water down standards and write off some of the most disadvantaged children in our country.

We have only to look at Scotland and Wales for a sign of what’s to come. The SNP and Labour Governments there rejected the Conservatives’ changes, staying wedded to the bigotry of low expectations, and led to much worse outcomes for children.

Education Secretary Lucy Powell says we have an "over focus on academic outcomes". But that focus is what has delivered for our children. And the Conservatives will restore it.
