NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg on how NATO defines democracy: Rule of law and...liberty; free elections.
@jonathanvswan: Is Turkey still a democratic govt?
Stoltenberg: They have elections...
Swan: Erdoğan is interfering in the judiciary…jailing journalists, rerunning elections.
The Turkey Tribunal, a not-for-profit human rights organization registered in Belgium, on Monday began a tribunal on the human rights violations committed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his government in Switzerland.

Seven years ago I saw the authoritarian descent Turkey was going down, but I never could have imagined the *physical destruction*. Hasankeyf, Sur, Cizre, Beyoğlu, TOKİ, concrete, mines, mucilage, wildfires. My god. It will take generations to heal, if anyone even tries.
"Kill list" of 55 Turks (many in Germany) who oppose the AKP. Erk Acarer (9) was attacked in Berlin on July 8th.
Erdogan was able to capture critics via Interpol and MİT kidnappings in some countries.
In Germany, he only has thousands of violent Grey Wolves to do his bidding.
This is just hypocrisy. On the one hand, welcome refugees to Turkey. On the other hand make Turkey a hell for your own citizens and leave no choice for them but to seek asylum elsewhere. During Erdoğan's presidency, the number of Turkish citizens who sought asylum has skyrocketed.
"The Turkish government is 'brazenly boasting' about the 'success' of the country’s intelligence agency in abducting and rendering tens of political opponents of President Erdogan to Turkey" -- an obvious flouting of the rule of law. https://t.co/s3mKCiyBNS
Human rights groups say they have evidence Turkish spies are abducting political opponents of President #Erdogan. @esinclairwebb tells @bevvo14#Turkey is brazenly boasting about the "success" of their intelligence services. #TheWorld
@cem_oezdemir More and more people around the world are being kidnapped by Erdogan's henchmen ... Kidnapping people is state terrorism, no matter where.
..the most important contribution the EU and the US could make would be to stand up for the rule of law, fair elections, and free media. https://t.co/b83tGB7wjt
Don't confuse the public showdown between the state and the Mafia in Italy with the ongoing showdown in Turkey. In Italy, the state exposed crimes of the Mafia. In Turkey, the Mafia is exposing crimes of the state.
The Threat from Within: Over the past decade, several NATO allies have taken a turn away from democracy... while the rule of law has long since unraveled in Turkey. https://t.co/jfOAm1jQPg
There, Erdoğan will meet leaders including Joe Biden,@POTUS. Turkey can return to democracy and the rule of law only by international pressure. Key NATO members, particularly @POTUS, should remind Erdoğan what NATO membership means before Erdoğan further undermines NATO. (2/2)
The Committee of Ministers of @coe will examine from today until Wednesday the (non) implementation of @ECHR_CEDH rulings. If #Turkey doesn't put an end to this unjustified reluctance, infringement proceedings should be on the table.
