A Historic Beginning for a Slum-Free Visakhapatnam! 🏙️❤️

For the first time in Andhra Pradesh, the In-Situ Slum Redevelopment Project has been launched at Velampeta Lakshmi Nagar, Visakhapatnam, bringing the promise of a better life closer to 177 families.

The foundation stone was laid by Hon’ble Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Dr. Ponguru Narayana, in the presence of Hon’ble MLA, Visakhapatnam South Constituency, Shri Chennuboina Vamsi Krishna Srinivas; District Collector & Special Officer, GVMC, Shri M. Abhishikth Kishore, IAS; and GVMC Commissioner, Shri Ketan Garg, IAS, along with public representatives, senior officials and beneficiaries.

🏠 ₹28.44 crore modern housing project
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 177 families to receive new homes
🏢 Stilt + 12-floor residential complex
📍 Redeveloped at the same location — without permanent relocation
⏱️ 9-month construction target
🔑 Houses targeted for handover by June 2027
💰 ₹31.86 lakh rental assistance provided during construction

This is more than the construction of homes. It is about dignity, security, stability and a better future—while keeping families connected to their livelihoods, children’s education and communities.
