In his official Nobel Prize interview, Demis Hassabis discussed how his aspirations as a young gaming programmer were ahead of their time.

His career began in childhood with competitive chess. He later developed a game called Theme Park, which utilised AI to create distinctive user experiences.

In 2020, Hassabis and John Jumper presented an AI model called AlphaFold2. With its help, they were able to predict the structure of virtually all known proteins. AlphaFold2 has been widely used in many areas, including research into pharmaceuticals and environmental technology.

Hassabis and Jumper were awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for protein structure prediction."
