@DHuskytron Heh, you think kids even use the phone their parents give them? It's like their work phone. Finding unrestricted internet access is easier than finding a π₯ in Paris. It's easier than finding an AR-15 in a US classroom. Children have agency and see the world clearer than you do.
@RepealTCPA1947@CanadianObs Imagine trying to convince a mugger to spend your former money wisely. Forming a mugger union* to set down appropriate limits on mugging. Folk talking about how some level of muggings is required, but overall muggings feel too high. Storekeepers mugging us.
* but I repeat myself
@PFuentes74@only_shans_ That's why we talk about class mobility not stagnant social heirachy. Historically the latter may be more interesting, but today the average lower class working person can expect to escape before middle-age. Often to their own surprise. We're in the era of middle-class workers.
@cobaco123@only_shans_ Alternatively, these professions are just paid in a different currency. The oil rig worker doesn't get the same social currency as the fireman, even though both may spend long times away from family or face similar levels of danger. So of course their salaries vary.
@garybernhardt Solo projects are special, but wouldn't it be great if I had someone to bounce ideas off before diving into it?
