Continuing to share the outcomes from the Blockchain Forum in Moscow! 🩶

One of the key values of the forum was not only the talks and panel discussions, but also direct professional networking. It is exactly these kinds of conversations that open up new opportunities, and today we’re ready to share one of the results of that networking.

During a discussion with representatives from the banking sector, we explored potential use cases for the Cellframe blockchain infrastructure as a foundation for a possible BRICS countries’ payment system.

✨ BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) is an association of emerging economies created to expand economic, technological, and financial cooperation between its members. Under the rotating presidency system, India is coordinating the BRICS agenda in 2026, taking over from Brazil. This year’s BRICS summit will take place on September 12–13 in New Delhi.

One of the most actively discussed areas within the group is the development of independent infrastructure for cross-border settlements between member countries. Such infrastructure could significantly improve the efficiency of mutual payments and reduce reliance on traditional global financial channels. Various technological approaches are being considered for this purpose, with blockchain platforms among the leading options. In this context, the Cellframe platform could potentially become one of the candidates.

We are currently preparing materials and working on the submission format in order to present our solution to relevant BRICS stakeholders. The application is expected to be submitted via the Indian side, as the current chair of the group.

This is an important and responsible step for our team. Potential participation in infrastructure at this level opens up significant opportunities — both in terms of scaling the technology and its real-world application in the global economy.

At the same time, we remain grounded: there is a serious selection process ahead, and at this stage we are speaking only about entering the “long list”, with a potentially long path ahead. What matters most is that the process has already begun, and we will continue to share updates as it develops.

The inflexibility of old blockchains is the biggest obstacle to quantum resistance

The monolithic architecture of 1st and 2nd generation blockchains means there's just one single chain where every piece of data gets recorded.

These networks are already struggling with congestion, high fees, and low throughput.

Now imagine trying to upgrade them to post-quantum cryptography. The algorithms are much heavier → transaction sizes balloon → network load skyrockets → the blockchain simply comes to a halt.

❌ You can't just swap out the cryptography in old blockchains. It's a complex, slow process. In some cases, it's impossible without shutting down the entire network.

Cellframe, however, is built on L0 architecture with multiple chains. Post-quantum cryptography is already there — and new algorithms can be added quickly. No pain. No collapse.

We had to redo the memory architecture of EVM to also become quantum safe. 20 byte addresses derived from private-> public -> hash are okay, but hash+nonce-> address is a much much smaller quantum circuit. It is also 65% likely to 160 bit birthday attack when using the current BTC hash power. so future proofing required 32 byte addresses. This applies only partially to BTC, but is devastating to EVM addresses.
