Great way to avoid hitting a #QuitPoint: compare yourself to yourself yesterday, not to everyone else around you. When the goal is small, incremental improvement, success is always in sight.

Before diving into a syllabus, class rules, or content, consider the culture you want to model throughout the year. Taking the time early on to nurture a culture of collaboration, communication, and critical thinking will pay dividends throughout the year. #backtoschool

Such an important message. We live in such a disposable society that it’s just the norm for most to toss and buy new. Parents need to model a repair mentality for their kids.

Its part of our planning where we determine (as a T, team, or dept) what approaching proficiency, proficiency, and mastery look like a particular standard. Assigned grades then measure where each student is

@polonerd @toofattoskydive My personal gradebook has a content and skills column (based on standards) and measures degree of mastery. That makes up most of their grade, providing Ts a more realistic snapshot of where the S is in their leaning. Ss have chance to improve based on feedback to change the grade

@toofattoskydive @polonerd We are still required to assign grades in our district at the end of each term. I also record grades at the midpoint of each term. I had to rethink my grade book and what I wanted to measure. No more points per assignment, but grades for overall content and skills per standards.
