The NBA says it will test out the One Free Throw Rule in upcoming summer league play in California, Utah and Las Vegas:
Fouls that result in one, two or three free throws under standard NBA rules will instead result in a single free throw attempt ... worth the same total number of points as the free throws it replaces.
@sama When you make a document with thinking models and then ask it to change something major it rewrites the document puts the instructions for change into the document not just making the changes. Will say thing like. “This was moved to the end of the document for better flow”.
Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.
The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.
Recent disclosures tied to $MMTLP show internal communications between the SEC, FINRA, and the broker-dealer lobby (FIF) coordinating actions around unrecoverable loaned shares and effectively naked short positions.
For readers of InvestorTurf, this is not a revelation. It is validation.
In our prior investigation, “How Wall Street Creates Counterfeit Shares for AMC and GameStop,” we documented how U.S. market plumbing enables synthetic share creation through a closed loop of regulatory failures involving FINRA, the SEC, and the DTCC. The $MMTLP case fits that framework almost perfectly.
Our reporting laid out three core claims:
1. FINRA is structurally conflicted, acting as both regulator and protector of broker-dealers that fund it.
2. The DTCC tolerates chronic settlement failures, allowing phantom shares to persist under the cover of “fails to deliver” and netting mechanics.
3. The SEC consistently defers enforcement, choosing market stability and institutional protection over rule of law and investor protection.
The $MMTLP halt exposed the endgame of that system. When naked short positions became mathematically impossible to close, trading was stopped, not to protect investors, but to prevent forced buy-ins that would have exposed the scale of counterfeit share issuance.
That outcome is not an accident. It is the logical conclusion of regulatory capture.
Why This Was Inevitable Under Gensler
Gary Gensler’s SEC has repeatedly promised reform while presiding over the same outcomes:
• Record settlement failures
• Token fines treated as a cost of doing business
• No criminal referrals tied to systemic naked short selling
If internal communications show regulators coordinating with industry lobbyists while retail investors were locked out of the market, that raises a fundamental question: who is the SEC actually regulating?
InvestorTurf has long argued that the SEC does not function as an independent watchdog, but as a pressure-release valve, stepping in only to manage optics and contain risk when the system threatens to expose itself.
The Legal Implications
If regulators knowingly facilitated or concealed market manipulation, the issue moves beyond incompetence. Conduct of this nature, if proven, would fall under federal criminal statutes, including:
• 18 U.S.C. § 371 — Conspiracy to defraud the United States
• 18 U.S.C. § 1348 — Securities and commodities fraud
• 18 U.S.C. § 1001 — False statements or concealment within federal jurisdiction
• 15 U.S.C. § 78j(b) and Rule 10b-5 — Market manipulation and fraud
These are not abstract theories. They are the exact statutes designed to address coordinated deception in U.S. financial markets.
The InvestorTurf Conclusion
The $MMTLP disclosures do not represent a breakdown in oversight.
They represent how the system is designed to function when naked shorts become too visible.
FINRA shields.
The DTCC obscures.
The SEC delays.
And retail investors are told to trust the process.
If senior officials were aware of unrecoverable synthetic positions and acted to suppress price discovery rather than enforce the law, then accountability must go beyond hearings and resignations. Criminal investigation is the minimum threshold.
Markets cannot survive when regulators protect the counterfeiters.
InvestorTurf has been documenting this pattern for years.
$MMTLP didn’t expose something new.
It exposed what regulators were willing to do when the truth got too close.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
In a stunningly anti-veteran move, the Trump admin tried to use the government shutdown as an excuse to halt nearly all court rulings on veterans' disability benefits. A 9-0 court—led by a Trump appointee—rejected their "extreme request," calling it unconscionable.
I fully authorized the President to call up 400 members of the Texas National Guard to ensure safety for federal officials.
You can either fully enforce protection for federal employees or get out of the way and let Texas Guard do it.
No Guard can match the training, skill, and expertise of the Texas National Guard.
They defend our country with pride.
America must also know that Texas still has thousands of National Guard assisting with the Border security.
ANDOR writer Dan Gilroy has released a statement critiquing the Trump administration and commenting on the parallels between the show and Disney’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel.
“As one of the writers on the Disney+ drama Andor, we spent six years thinking about a fascist takeover of a galaxy far, far away. Six years thinking about ordinary beings as an authoritarian regime comes in for the kill. Many people saw parallels between Andor and the real world. I see them as well, particularly in the events of the last week.
Donald Trump’s tools of governance, coercion and intimidation, have found focus on Hollywood. Faced with a social media firestorm, fear, and an FCC head threatening “they can do this the easy way or hard way,” Disney suspended Jimmy Kimmel for speaking his mind. I deeply disagree but acknowledge it was a difficult decision. If you believe otherwise, wait until fate knocks on your door and demands you choose between conscience and hardship — because if you work in this industry that day is coming.
The suspension bought time, but not much. Disney now stands at a crossroads: terminate Kimmel’s contract and become pavement for the road to a brave new Trumpian world; or stand for the First Amendment and take the onslaught. There’s not much at stake, just free speech, the oxygen that sustains life in this town.
Trump’s aim is to control what we make and say. The concept seems far off and abstract. Neither is true. Is it hard to conjure a new oversight office or cabinet seat? Is it difficult to picture Trump toadies deplaning at LAX with binders of banned topics and mandated alternatives? You’ll meet them when you have to pitch for approval or get grilled about subversive co-workers.
Regardless of how the jack-booted attack on Jimmy Kimmel is resolved, this isn’t a skirmish. It’s a siege. The first thing Putin did after taking power was silence shows that criticized him. Artists are censored first because they fear us most. The fact this isn’t new doesn’t diminish the shock of the last few days. The majority in Hollywood believed their job was entertainment — the bolder souls attempted to inject theme and commentary — but for everyone this has suddenly become Westworld real.
Whether you’re reading this on line at Blue Bottle or killing time before your 3 o’clock Zoom or staring at a glowing screen unable to sleep, we have all become characters in a story where our actions carry actual weight and consequence. Our industry faces the most sophisticated, venomous, creeping evil in America’s history. There’s no standing above this conflict. No impartial observers. If you’re on the sidelines you’ve made a choice and must live with it.
Their goal is to instill fear, to make you feel helpless, hopeless, to break you down. Don’t let them. Educate yourself. Organize. Speak truth to authority. Because the story’s not written — the pen is in your hand.”
@bmicheal21@EASPORTS_CUT No generally they give you a small amount of coins for any left over trophies. Best to spend them on players, packs or coin packs.
Let me clear this up:
Yes—Russia tried to help Donald Trump win the 2016 election.
No—Russia didn’t change vote tallies or hack voting machines successful to change the outcome.
What did happen? Russia used cyber warfare to try and sway the outcome. That included:
•Running disinformation campaigns via troll farms
•Hacking and leaking John Podesta’s emails
•Hacking the Democratic National Committee
•Targeting state election systems
So when Tulsi Gabbard cherry-picks the part of the 2016 report that says Russia didn’t change vote totals, she’s technically right—but she’s misleading people by ignoring the rest of the story.
And as for Obama? The idea that he “covered something up” is nonsense. He publicly released an intelligence report two months later that spelled all of this out.
Bottom line: Russia didn’t hack voting machines and change votes. But they absolutely interfered to help Trump. Pretending otherwise is either dishonest or delusional.
Literally insane this is an official page of our government. Also you can clearly see those aren’t weed plants in the video posted. To make light and jokes about this situation especially after someone died is abhorrent. The lack of humanity and compassion is disgusting.
