And this is bigger than two people receiving capital.

In August alone, two merchants from the Bitbiashara community were funded through recoverable grants on @geyserfund .

And this is what makes it so exciting for our community:

The capital doesn’t end there.

It goes into a business.
The business grows.
The capital comes back.
Another business gets funded.
That business grows.
The capital comes back again.

Business after business.
Merchant after merchant.
Again and again.

That’s the power of a circular grant.

So when we say two businesses have been funded, we’re not saying we’ve helped two people and we’re done.

We have simply started a cycle.

And for a grassroots community like ours, this is a HUGE milestone.

It means capital can keep working.

It can move from one business to another, creating opportunities for more people within the same community.

Two merchants in August.

And we’re just getting started.

How many businesses can this same capital reach?

🌍Project Spotlight: SowetoBtc

📍 Location: Soweto, South Africa 🇿🇦

About:
SowetoBtc is a non-profit, Bitcoin-only education and mentorship initiative.

The project delivers practical Bitcoin financial literacy to underprivileged youth while onboarding local small and medium businesses to accept Bitcoin payments.

Through Bitcoin education sessions, and ongoing community workshops, SowetoBtc has already engaged over 100 participants who earn and spend sats at local merchants.

The project also supports merchant onboarding (including Bitcoinize POS machines) to build a real circular economy where residents can earn, save, and spend Bitcoin daily.

Key Objectives:
1. Deliver accessible Bitcoin financial education and mentorship to underprivileged youth, including structured courses, diplomas, and practical skills for self-custody and sovereignty.

2. Onboard local merchants and SMEs (spaza shops, food outlets, service providers, and more) to accept Bitcoin payments seamlessly, including through dedicated POS solutions.

3. Empower Soweto’s youth with real-world Bitcoin skills that shift mindsets from job-seeking to global economic participation and long-term financial independence.

4. Strengthen and grow a thriving local Bitcoin circular economy where sats circulate daily among residents and businesses without constant conversion to fiat.

5. Expand genuine financial inclusion across Soweto by giving the community open, permissionless tools to control their own economic future and build resilience.
