Had this man not found the courage to fight back after being repeatedly attacked with an axe capable of cutting through metal—while bleeding profusely—and had the presence mind to trigger the hijack/emergency code, initiate the emergency response and open the cockpit door to allow passengers to assist him, the aircraft’s subsequent dive could have had catastrophic consequences.

Had that aircraft not been recovered, the geopolitical consequences for the Middle East could have been profound and potentially irreversible.

Sometimes history turns on the courage, resilience and presence of mind of one person.

India's defence budget crossed ₹7.85 lakh crore this year. 75% of capital acquisition is locked for domestic companies only.

But most investors stop at HAL, BEL, Mazagon Dock. These are assemblers. The missile itself is built by a completely different set of companies.

A quick breakdown of who actually builds India's missiles:

BrahMos went from 15% Indian-made components in 2015 to 70% today. Target is 85% by end of 2026. New Lucknow plant takes annual production from 100 to 300 units. Export pipeline is building towards ₹5 lakh crore by 2030. $450 million in export orders already signed.

Every one of those 300 missiles needs seekers, boosters, titanium forgings, guidance electronics.

Here's who supplies what:

Bharat Dynamics (BDL): India's sole missile manufacturer. Akash, Astra, MPATGM. Order book ₹26,000 crore. Two new plants coming in Telangana and UP.

Data Patterns: Developed the Fire Control System for BrahMos. Testing seekers. All-time high order book at ₹1,868 crore. EBITDA margins 35-40%. Revenue growth guidance 20-25% CAGR.

Astra Microwave Products: Builds RF and infrared seekers. Executing 70% of the QRSAM missile programme. Order book ₹2,226 crore. Q3 FY26 EBITDA margin hit 31.7%, highest in 8 quarters. 95% of new orders from defence.

Solar Industries: Made the transition from mining explosives to missile propulsion. Supplies solid propellant boosters for BrahMos via DRDO tech transfer. Also making Pinaka rockets and 155mm ammunition. Defence order book alone is ₹16,600 crore.

MTAR Technologies: Precision components for liquid propulsion engines and Agni missile programme. Q3 FY26 revenue up 59% YoY. Profit up 117%. Order book ₹2,395 crore.

PTC Industries: Titanium and superalloy castings for BrahMos, Pralay missiles, and now Blue Origin and Honeywell Aerospace. 9-month FY26 revenue up 95%. Building titanium capacity to 6,000 TPA. Management targeting 10-15x revenue growth over 5-7 years.

Premier Explosives: Akash missile propellants. Long-term contract with BDL. Quiet but locked in.

Goodluck India: Steel and alloy forgings for Pinaka rockets and BrahMos components.

DRDO conducted the first salvo launch of the NASM-SR anti-ship missile this month. Goldman Sachs projects the Indian defence market to grow 6x to ₹10 lakh crore over 20 years.

The assemblers get the headlines. The supply chain gets the orders.

Reuters reports that satellite imaging firm Planet Labs said on Saturday it will indefinitely withhold visuals of Iran and the region of conflict in the Middle East to comply with a request from the U.S. government.

Basically, US does not want images of damages out. This is only to stop public from seeing it because China and Russia will definitely have their own satellite images.

Yamuna cleanup is a great initiative and it seems to be going well for the first time since independence. I am following it closely for an important reason.

River Thames in London, Seine in Paris, Rhine of Switzerland, Kallang of Singapore, Pearl of Shanghai all were overflowing with sewage and were extremely polluted once.

Some as recent has 20-50 years ago. Go ask Grok if you think they were always clean, those people & populations were always so civic, and that only Indian culture is bad and it can't be changed.

There is no reason why Indian rivers can't be cleaned and reclaimed. The day India has clean rivers, which we consider as mother goddess, running in our cities and towns, will mark the day India became a developed country.

I will put more importance on this parameter (pollutants and sewage in our rivers) than GDP per capita as a measure of development. For it means the whole city is living & thriving and the population is civic & healthy.

So if our authorities in Delhi, both state and centre, take this seriously and manage to clean up the Yamuna (and we have to understand it will definitely take years), and the citizens and civic authorities keep it that way, we would have turned a leaf in India's civilizational history - back to its former glory.

I will consider it to be as important a moment.

इस समय सुबह साईट ठीक से चल रही है लेकिन यह कोई आदर्श स्तिथि नहीं है ।
सरकार ने जब खुद को दिक़्क़त आई तो ITR की तारीख़ 31 जुलाई से 15 सितम्बर कर दी। अब जब पोर्टल दिन में बार-बार ठप हो रहा है तो तारीख़ बढ़ाने से इंकार कर दिया गया। इसी कारण प्रोफेशनल्स को मजबूरी में रात को जागकर रिटर्न भरने पड़े हैं क्योंकि उसी समय साइट चलती है।

हम सभी ने कई बार एक्सटेंशन की माँग की , बात एक्सटेंशन की नहीं बल्कि टाइमली एक्सटेंशन की थी। अब भले ही एक्सटेंशन आ भी जाए तो उसकी कोई उपयोगिता नहीं रह जाएगी।
सरकार से गुज़ारिश है – पोर्टल की तकनीकी जाँच करवा कर पोर्टल की स्पीड और क्षमता ज़रूर सुधार दीजिए।यह पोर्टल जितने कर दाता इस समय देश में हैं उन्हें सर्व करने के लिए उपयोगी नहीं है ।
