Fort Lauderdale continues to take meaningful action to address homelessness with compassion, accountability, and supportive services. During our last April Commission Meeting, we approved a $125,000 agreement with HomesUnited Ministries to provide shared housing and supportive mental health and substance abuse services for individuals experiencing homelessness.

This program includes enhanced safeguards, expanded daytime programming, behavioral health assessments prior to placement, and stronger coordination with our city outreach teams. This is designed to help individuals transition toward stable housing and greater self-sufficiency.

Addressing homelessness requires more than temporary solutions. It requires countywide partnerships, support systems, and a commitment to helping people rebuild their lives while protecting the quality of life within our community. FTL is taking decisive action, the most of any municipality in Broward County, but lasting solutions still require stronger coordination with the County Government and the City of Fort Lauderdale remains committed to pursuing thoughtful, long-term solutions that balance compassion with public responsibility. #WeAreFTL
