@HollyBullardFL For those who think this is a bad thing if it passes you can just tell the appraiser office that you want to keep
Paying the way you have for years.
@garrettshanley@GovRonDeSantis The Fl. Property Tax system is set up right now to tax the wealthy more. The more your property is worth the more you pay. Hello! We need a break. Property tax is compounding YOY it is unsustainable! Good luck to you kids and grandkids owning a house. Rent from corporate owners.
@millennialobsrv@AlexLanfran If you are In a small town what’s the difference in begging the county for more of your property tax dollars or begging the State for more sales tax revenue?
They will still collect property tax on anything over 250000. Any break is better than what we are getting right now! School board should Charge a tuition, for the ones who need help.
You could give them a scholarship as long as they apply themselves and make passing grades.
This is all based on a lie. The way local governments are funded is NOT being fundamentally altered.
Local governments will still collect sales taxes, just like yesterday.
They will still collect tourist taxes, just like yesterday.
They will still collect fees, just like yesterday.
They will still collect property tax on commercial and retail properties, just like yesterday.
They will still collect property tax on resorts and amusements, just like yesterday.
They will still collect property tax on hotels/motels, just like yesterday.
They will stillest property tax on AirBnBs, just like yesterday.
They will still collect property tax on rental homes, just like yesterday.
None of this is changing. So why the doom and gloom?
Because local governments will no longer be able to tax the unrealized gains on the largest investment most Floridians make, and will have to tighten their belts a little bit while they wait for all the other properties that they do tax to continue to appreciate faster than inflation.
This means that local governments will have less money to pay for new policy initiatives that people like Jeff put forward.
@JeffreyBrandes Thinking you have lost sight of how it’s
work. The people who vote controls local government! The taxpayers who
live in the communities all over Fl. 22 /23 62% property value increase!
This is the real problem. Totally unacceptable unsustainable!
If only ballots in America would look this way. The uninformed will vote on amendments without understanding which side they are actually backing. Or they don’t vote at all.
Gov. @RonDesantis says his $250K homestead exemption plan would fully eliminate property taxes for many Florida homeowners.
Hillsborough: 61.2%
Pasco: 65.2%
Broward: 51.8%

DESANTIS: We’ve gone from local governments taking $32 billion in 2019 in taxes to now $60 BILLION!
That's almost 100% increase in revenue!
By 2032, they're going to be taking in $83 BILLION! That is not sustainable.
🚨 A LEADER FOR THE PEOPLE: Gov. DeSantis has called for the COMPLETE abolition of homeowners' property taxes in FL.
This is AMAZING news. Proud Floridian, and proud supporter of Gov. DeSantis.
JUST IN: Governor DeSantis leads the charge to eliminate property taxes in Florida under a new plan aimed at giving homeowners relief.
"This is really a historic opportunity to have more money in people's pockets and to actually have their home be their private property that the government just can't use as a piggy bank." | @SundayFutures
70% of property tax revenue is non-homestead residential, investment properties and commercial.
Eliminating all homestead revenue immediately would still yield revenue 30% higher than what local governments taxed in 2019.
@JeffreyBrandes So what’s happened in the 80s
the Fl. Legislature gave unfunded mandates to the counties forcing local Municipalities to raise property taxes
to fund comp plans by 93 required to hire planners. This is just a start of what need to be done to
real in government spending.
@ArdilaMorgan@RonDeSantis So in the 80s think fl. was mostly controlled by the Dem. Comp plans caused local governments to raise property tax to accommodate city planners. Just one example.
