Jane and I wish you a safe and merry Christmas, and happy holidays. This has been an enormously difficult year for far too many. As we head into the new year, let us rededicate ourselves to building a world of peace, justice and compassion for all.
Congratulations to @apscskywla Jessica Frazier, Senior, 3rd place @apsupdate@APS_HS Christmas card winner and her awesome Art Teacher, Ms. Ervwin!💗🎄🖼 https://t.co/pMyf3lvFiQ

Teachers,
I’ve been in school for two weeks. Haven’t required a camera yet. I’ve asked, encouraged, hoped for
But you can’t mandate a kid show you their business. I’ve even heard some lawyers say that you shouldn’t
You’ll be okay without their faces. Their safety comes first
Day 2 Glows: Had a great Virtual Gesture Drawing Activity with 2nd Block students today!!!! We had a few minor connection issues due to the rain but the activity was successful nonetheless! Fun at home activity! #APSARTS
Let’s not try to fit 2019 plans into 2020 reality. Virtual school is not “normal”— there’s nothing normal about 2020. Relish in the opportunity to try new strategies, abandon busy work & fruitless activities. Be concise. Plan. Practice. Relax. Enjoy teaching again. Breathe. ❤️
Just in case you haven’t heard it lately, THANK YOU to all of the faculty and staff across the country who are patiently navigating the now normal of educating our kids. I wouldn’t make it a day in your shoes.
Joined our new @apsupdate employees (virtually) this morning! Despite anxiety and uncertainty, they brought graciousness, patience & enthusiasm! 400 new and talented employees are now braced for the challenge! #WalkingInYourGift#DisruptTheFear
APS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring proposed a two week delay to the 2020-21 school year and nine weeks of virtual learning in response to health statistics.

With safety of students & staff our top priority, I’m recommending @apsupdate begin school on August 24 virtually. Aug 3-21 will be “runway for return to learning” & pre-planning. Attend @BOEAPS Facebook Live meeting on Mon July 13 at 5 p.m. for details. https://t.co/iPu4TRqnwh
Mayor @KeishaBottoms’ Order changes gatherings from 10 to zero on City property, requires face coverings and does not close businesses. The Five-Phase Reopening Plan provides guidelines to all for operating safely as #COVID19 cases surge. #ATLStrong
I envisioned myself back in the classroom for another exciting year of learning with my students! COVID has hindered that ability for face to face interaction, but it won’t stop the fight for teaching and adapting in the best way possible! #ThisTooShallPass
We found out there would be no in-person school 24 hours ago, and now every single family I know is rushing to make social "learning pods" with a few other families to share duties and so their kids won't have to learn alone. Curious to see where this leads. Humans are amazing.
