Some of the incredible underwater #biodiversity found in the #seaweed-dominated 'marine forests' of #SouthGeorgia. Identifying and documenting these species is essential for protecting this unique ecosystem.
South Georgia reveals a unique marine environment: from cold water corals, crocodile fish, sponges, snails, sea slugs, stalked jellyfish to seaweeds, including the beautiful rose petal weed.

PhD Student @H_ParryWilson has been looking at reproduction & growth of the Purple Topshell in varying winter temps, using the Mieszkowska mesocosm system – this work, part of the @MarClim_UK project, aims to identify biogeographic implications as a result of climate change.
PhD researcher Kathryn @kathrynepack@unisouthampton is investigating the distribution & physiological tolerances of invasive Pacific oyster w/ #ClimateChange in the Mieszkowska lab. After a 10-month, multi-factor mesocosm experiment, it was pretty clear these oysters are tough!
Research fellow @thembauk, Nova Mieszkowska is a physiological ecologist investigating #ClimateChange & #OceanAcidification impacts on marine biodiversity. Nova runs @MarClim_UK – the world’s biggest intertidal #TimeSeries started by Prof. Alan Southward in the 1950s, (pictured)
