I’ve kept tabs on the Clancy trial, but not in great detail. I listened to the closings in full. I’m just a simple country lawyer, as they say… But WTF is the state T A L K I N G about in this closing? For me- the reasonable doubt is overwhelming. Whole thing feels cruel.

Hard disagree. The result of those two words has been that the entire press corps and the internet/airwaves are awash in discussion of how the President of the United States's information gatekeepers keep him inside an info-bubble that leads to catastrophically bad decisionmaking, and how obviously unfit for the job he is.

There's no reason the public will see this story through GOP's preferred frame -- as an alleged insult to a professional woman or as an insinuation about Trump's sexual habits -- because that isn't what this story actually is about. I'd argue that we should stop *allowing* Republicans to frame everything for us.

The irony here is that this is a good example of Dems setting the frame. When Dems point the camera at Trump/GOP vulnerabilities, that's good, not bad. They should do more of it.

I have just found the Clancy trial to be one of the most disturbing public events in recent memory.

It is a complete and utter failure of our health care system that ultimately led to the death of three kids and a family whose lives are all ruined.

It's a complete failure of our government that the prosecutors are turning this into a circus with no regard to the pain its cause everyone involved.

It's a complete failure of our information environment that people are basically writing whodunit fan fiction and harassing the whole family like this.

Everything about it exposes something that is fundamentally broken about our various systems. Truly painful to watch.

ARE WE BEING SHUT OUT? Voters have a right to know what is happening behind the scenes with NewsChannel 5’s efforts to cover the GOP primary in the race for Tennessee governor.

We want to have a news crew at Marsha Blackburn’s election night headquarters in Knoxville to provide coverage if she becomes the Republican nominee. But Sen. Blackburn’s campaign has left NewsChannel 5 off of communications with the media regarding election night logistics. We have made repeated efforts to reach the campaign to make arrangements for getting inside the event, but those outreach efforts have been ignored.

Is this the price for trying to get the leading candidate for governor to answer questions about her positions on the issues? Is this the price for accurately reporting that her office faced a confidential ethics investigation last year for engaging in political activity at taxpayer expense? Is this the price for once again accurately reporting that she misled another journalist about the outcome of that ethics investigation?

In other words, is this the price for simply doing our jobs?

And, finally, if these are the games the Blackburn team plays when they are seeking the votes of Tennesseans, what will happen if she assumes control of the Governors office for four years?
