@CartoonsHateHer Parents just need to be better with sitting with this discomfort. Like your kid wants the toy, the other has it, it is okay for your kid to want it and other to decide how to react. Let everyone do their thing to the extent it does not involve a physical altercation.
@WalterHudson You are a state representative. Are you unaware that there is a state government data practices act? The State and governments have all kinds of private data they can't just hand out.
@arubyisforever @silkysparrow_ @emilykmay@skylarromines When I was a kid, my dad’s family used to all gather and have a BBQ on Mother’s DAy. Each family did brought a side and my grandpa grilled. It was fine. It revolved around a family of mothers. I don’t understand what is wrong with that concept.
@CartoonsHateHer I thought I was going to be a Big Little Feelings parent until my child turned 20 months old and the defiance started. I also experienced gentle parenting at the playground, and did not like how it was executed in relation to other kids. So I changed course.
@jpkolb I don't think it is anyone's job to actively resist. But would you be okay with GSA saying to hell with the statutes they are supposed to follow and picking Elon Musk's favorite vendor for lucrative gov contracts?
@hillbillythings They have been trying to raise funds for a splash pad for like a decade. In my city—there is a splash pad or public pool within walking distances of most people’s homes. And I don’t have to go spend money to enjoy so much of what’s free in our city.
@hillbillythings I live in a city and there are all kinds of kid-centric things to do. The Institute of Art and the Swedish Institute have areas designed for children. My rural hometown—a post went viral complaining about having to pay parks for kids got a ridiculous amounts of likes.
@emilykmay I think it is rude when people buy you a different brand/kind of something you request, but it's really not the end of the world to get something off registry. I really like giving a little extra something that helped me as a new mom. I appreciated those gifts from others too.
@elliearomalady@crazyreesie@mom_of_littles I take it as "only" use the registry and I can imagine others do as well. When the registry items are out of my price range or not something I want to buy, I get a gift card.
@crazyreesie@mom_of_littles I think merely listing the registry is enough. The "please purchase" part is taking it too far. It used to be that it was rude to even list it, which is dumb as it is helpful to both parties. But gifting is not just about the receiver. A lot of recipients forget that.
@z3r0_burn@jpkolb It is the "For You" section which is a mix of ppl you follow and the X algorithm. And it used to be interesting and I would see new accounts with different perspectives. I definitely am not following trad wives and have muted hoping to shift my algorithm.
@clhubes So many of these kid food influencers are sharing their disordered relationship w/food, w/bunch of overly anxious parents. I stopped following so many of them, specifically this one when she got all sanctimonious about not buying her kid ice cream after a tough sports loss.
@isaiah_bb How old? We try to offer at least one thing we know our toddler will eat. We get playful in encouraging her to try things. We do not force her to eat. She decides what she eats, from what is offered. We keep on offering even if she told us it was yucky a different time.
@VGrubsky@BenK_Data Apparently many people on Ozempic lose their taste for junk food and crave healthier foods. And when people lose weight it is easier to do physical activity. Seems to help people take care of their bodies better.
