@MsCorene I consider math a language; but whether it be a language or a tool, if you can’t speak it or use it then it’s gonna be pretty challenging to “do” astronomy. any science for that matter
I don't say this lightly as I don't like hyping for clicks - but I'm very concerned for Louisiana.
#Ida will traverse the highest Ocean Heat Content (OHC) in the basin, coupled with low wind shear & plenty of upper-level outflow. Category 4 is likely, 5 not out of the question.
@BBowenBGSU @Cat48181759 but you teach on a college campus in the U.S.? if that’s the case everyone on that campus has access to a vaccine, they’re free all across the U.S.
@BBowenBGSU @MsCaguirre This analysis is flawed b/c
A) COVID-19 was still in its infancy in the U.S. in terms of total cases in Mar ‘20 than now
B) 99% of the active cases reside amongst the 50% of the country that doesn’t or can’t get vaccinated
Get vaxxed & wear a mask & odds are you’re good
@AnnieMRansom@sarah_raskin@OxnardSD Need to watch/have students watch the doc The search for the 52 hertz whale…about a single whale, species unknown, whose call occurs @ 52 hertz…much of the doc occurs in the SB Channel
Louisiana has 3,000 new cases in just four days, among kids. 3,000. Children. How is this possibly okay with anyone? What are we doing here that this is price some folks are willing to pay for the freaking economy?
Pretty cool!! These clouds are caused when there is wind shear in a stable layer of the atmosphere. The clouds seen are known as "Kelvin-Helmholtz Wave" clouds.
