$XRP utility is continuously expanding.
On this episode of Onchain Economy, @HugoPhilion, Co-Founder and CEO of @FlareNetworks, explains how Flare is expanding what’s possible for $XRP through interoperability.
By bringing XRP into a smart contract environment, Flare enables DeFi use cases including using XRP as collateral, lending and borrowing, and interacting with stablecoins and tokenized assets.
Hugo also shares his perspective on why privacy may be important for broader institutional adoption.

Happy to see ProofRails recognized with this opportunity!
Crypto is building powerful payment rails, but payment infrastructure is not only about moving value. Institutions also need records, evidence, reconciliation, and reporting they can trust.
That is the gap ProofRails is working to close.
This is a great opportunity to collaborate with traditional financial institutions while showing how @FlareNetworks can support verifiable payment infrastructure.
I’m not going to announce anything ahead of time but here is a summary of the things we are focussing on:
- Sourcing more stablecoin liquidity against which XRP can be deployed.
- Deepening partnerships (extending the range of deployment options) with institutions that have already committed to using XRPFi on Flare.
- Acquiring new partners who sit on large amounts of XRP to be deployed into XRPFi on Flare.
- Working towards trials with RWAs using Flare Confidential Compute.
- Broadening the use of FDC (and hence FDC fee earning) through partnerships with entities that need that kind of data.
What does the XRP Alliance actually mean for XRP holders? 👀
Yield, swaps, rewards, and cross-chain access. All while keeping your $XRP in self-custody 🔐⚡
Great breakdown from @CryptoSenseii 👇
@0xQuantic Step back and appreciate that you can build something so technically advance as to change the horizon of finance from a location where you can grow the most simple things.
I think Flare might be the second largest user of XRPL escrow by asset value.
If you get a little bit creative the primitives that the XRPL offers can be used to do extraordinary things.
Destination tags are a native XRPL primitive, used across exchanges, custodians, and wallets for routing XRP payments.
FAssets v1.3 makes them route FXRP minting too. A tagged XRPL withdrawal from licensed custody is now a complete mint flow on @FlareNetworks.
See how @Hex_Trust is already integrating with Flare: https://t.co/dXQ8tIXIbB
I just minted FXRP directly to Flare from @krakenfx@krakenpro
Have you?
It was super simple. Give it a go!
Buy a tag on any of the FXRP minting apps and follow the very simple instructions.
You can do this from any exchange that supports XRP.
The inflation cut should start becoming noticeable pretty soon, around Monday.
And thanks to FAssets v1.3, the path for XRP to enter Flare gets simpler, which means more XRP liquidity can move into XRPFi opportunities.
Then we’ll see FIRE start to make the flywheel run in full motion.
Lower inflation. More usage. More value routed back into the ecosystem.
This year is going to be interesting.
FAssets v1.3 is live on mainnet.
Minting FXRP = one XRPL transaction.
Reserve a destination tag once, and every mint after is just an XRP withdrawal. Works from any exchange — Binance, Kraken, OKX, Upbit, Bithumb, all of them.
Billions of XRP are sitting on CEXs. @FlareNetworks is the only chain that reaches them in one step.
