MMRDA has completed 250 metres of underground tunnelling for the Orange Gate–Marine Drive Urban Road Tunnel, powered by India's largest slurry shield TBM for an urban road. And it keeps pushing forward.

One of India's most complex urban tunnelling projects, the Orange Gate–Marine Drive Tunnel involves construction of twin tunnels spanning over 7 km, passing beneath Central Railway, Western Railway, and Metro Line 3 with precision engineering every metre of the way.

Once completed, the tunnel will cut travel time between Orange Gate and Marine Drive to just 5 minutes, enabling seamless east-west connectivity, direct integration with the Coastal Road and Atal Setu, and a significant reduction in congestion and emissions across Mumbai.

Mumbai's next-generation mobility infrastructure isn't on the horizon. It's being built right now, beneath your feet.

We sure should build vertical in Mumbai, but we need that much more public transport. Its currently extremely under-developed.

@JRUrbaneNetwork I had taken the D category train from SH to BJ back in 2011. Was a smooth night journey, so comfortable and extremely convenient.

There were like 5 trains back to back from 9 pm to 9.30 pm to take care of the crowd.

Wish one day the same for Mumbai - Delhi! so crucial.

We need sensible bus routes too on coastal road

We need more road connectivity. Not expansion of the same.

Build alternative routes.

Instead of expanding the current e-way, focus on alternative route. Take a branch off JNPT Spur that goes and meets Pune near Chakan side.

Ofocurse, Pune needs a proper Ring Road too

CST - Byculla - Dadar - Kurla - Ghatkopar - Thane

33 mins

No red, no slowing down.

On good days, CR can be joyful too

Thane to Ghatkopar is my favourite stretch in fast local because it literally takes just 10 mins for a route of nearly 20 km.
