cont. (3/3) I’m mostly concerned with this teams ability to play against top teams. Kirk posted his worse performance (3 int) against a skilled Dolphins squad. If Coach Spencer is able to get his team composed in big games, the Vikes have the talent to win a playoff game or two.
5.) #Skol
The Vikings are having a season most analysts could have never guessed. Lead by Coach Spencer, Minnesota was written off in many of the early rankings. Cpt. Kirk has been outstanding with 1203 yds, 14 TD’s and only 6 int’s (tied for #3 among starting QB’s).
#SKOL
cont. (2/3) The Vikings fell to the #5 spot after a disappointing loss to the Fins (7-28) which Miami dominated in. I’m mostly impressed by the Vikings record in the NFCN (3-0), out scoring their rivals 125-57.
#Saints
cont. (3/3)
The Saints offense is lead by Alvin Kamara, who is having a record start to his season (11 rushing TD’s - #1 overall). My concern moving forward is that teams will start to prepare for Kamara, and successfully shutting him down might cause havoc for NOLA.
4.) #Saints
The Saints are one of my favorite surprises early on. NOLA has outscored their opponents 240-85 (#2, only sitting behind Miami). In their first 3 games the Saints went 3-0 in the NFCS, beating all 3 NFCS teams by a combined score of 127-48. Wow!
#Saints
cont. (2/3) NOLA’s only loss comes from the Vikes (currently ranked below the Saints, I know.) The Saints however, rank in the top 10 in 3 major categories (#4 Offense, #1 Defense, #6 Turnovers). The Saints have also only allowed Jameis to be sacked 7x (tied for #3).
#DallasCowboys
cont. (3/3) I think the lack of production in this star studded offense is concerning (currently #29 overall, with only the Bengals and Pats behind them). Though, there is something to be said about their ability to take care of the ball (#1 overall).
#DallasCowboys
cont. (2/3) Dak’s passing stats don’t jump off the page, but he’s only thrown 2 ints. He is also completing 76% of his passes. We have seen many QB’s struggle with turnovers early on, but Dak ranks among the top starting QB’s in taking care of the ball (#1).
3.) #DallasCowboys
Yes, America’s team is undefeated; however, I’m not impressed by their wins (opposing team’s combined record is 10-27). I’m excited to see Dallas take on some tougher teams in the upcoming weeks (Lions - W7, Packers - W10, and the Vikings - W11).
cont. (3/3) Miami is led by another very experienced coach. It is impressive what Coach Adelman has been able to get out of Teddy towards the end of his career. Strength of schedule is mainly what sets the Dolphins and Cowboys apart, imo. More on Dallas later…
2.) #FinsUp
Miami sits at 6-1 with their only loss coming from the Bills in week 3 (20-22). Since that loss, Miami has allowed just 30 points in 4 games (including a game against the top ranked Vikings). Bridgewater (yes, Teddy-Two-Gloves), ranks 2nd in passing (1634 yds).
#FinsUp
cont. (2/3) The Fins boast a balanced offensive attack, 12 PTD / 11 RTD, while scoring 42% of the time in the RZ. Miami appears to struggle protecting their play caller, allowing TTG to be sacked a whopping 27x (#32 overall). This number could be concerning come offs.
#BoltUp
cont. (3/3)
The Chargers are also lead by an experienced coach who is not new to being ranked in the top #5. Coach Mojica knows how to get his team ready for the big moments. I don’t expect any team to knock LA off their throne anytime soon.
#BoltUp
cont. (2/3) LA’s weakness appears to be on Defense (currently ranked #17); however, with the talent on that side of the ball there is no reason to worry. The Bolts boast a ferocious front that has gotten to the opposing QB 21x through 7 weeks (tied for #6 overall).
1.) #BoltUp
LA is 7-0 with 3 wins against teams in the top 10, including a 31-6 win over the Browns. Herbert currently leads the NFL in passing (1700 yds) and Mack ranks among the top 3 in sacks (7.5). As a team LA ranks #1 in total offense and scores 50% of the time in the RZ.
