Another fantastic boat trip today with @ak_cruises and @VJHobson for the @MarineVertsMSc course @ExeterMarine. We were blessed 🙏🏼with amazing weather and saw hundreds of #dolphins, over a thousand #bluefintuna, some harbour porpoises (including a calf!) and even a #puffin!
🚨In our latest publication, we used #CitizenScience observations to show that the #cuttlefish#Sepiaofficinalis, despite usually being considered asocial, may temporarily form groups and even display #shoaling behaviour. Hot off the press in #Ethology: https://t.co/WdNqhedFte
In Malagasy, whale sharks are called marokintana, translating as "many stars". Their Japanese name is jinbei zame, the “patterned pyjama shark”. In Kenyan Swahili, they are papa shilling, “the shark covered with coins”. In Vietnamese they are cá Ông, literally “Sir Fish”. (1/5)
😌Wally has finally found a good place to rest 😌
⛵️After a few turned over boats we and the locals on the Isles of Scilly are happy Wally the Walrus has found a floating pontoon to rest on instead.
👏🏼Hopefully he continues to take advantage of the pontoon.
✨I am unbelievably proud to say that I am graduating with a First Class Bachelors of Science with honours in Marine Biology from the @UniExeCornwall !!😭👩🎓
All the hard work has truly paid off
Looking forward to continuing the Exeter adventure starting #MVEC MSc in September✨
🌟!Wally the Walrus in Porthcressa Bay!🌟
On the 17th June Wally was seen for hours swimming between boats in Porthcressa Bay, St Mary's, Isles of Scilly.
👉How amazing is this footage!? Share with your friends and put a smile on their faces.

🤩INCREDIBLE images of Wally from the Isles of Scilly😄
One of our Seaquesters Rachel Box had the priviledge of watching Wally swim around Porthcressa bay for a couple of hours last week!
👉Please respect his space and make the police aware of any disturbance.

📢 West coast community ORCAS spotted in Cornwall! 🚨
⭐️ Perhaps one of the most exciting marine life sightings in recent years⭐️
Photos from the Minnack validated the orca sighting, but also identified the individuals involved as John Coe and Aquarius!
💙We had a great day yesterday at Rame Head for our first Public Sea Watch of 2021🥳
We didn’t see any megafauna this time- sounds like the basking sharks were at Lands End and the cetaceans were visiting Padstow!😅
But a lovely sunny day, glassy waters and great company!
Received our MMO training certificate this week from @stephbarnicoat at @SeicheTraining and a great talk this morning from Abby, Becky and Clare at @CWTSeaquestSW @CwallWildlife
Expect to now find me on a local headland with my binoculars, ID book, hot chocolate & biscuits🍪
Amazing job @WICCornwall committee for putting on such an amazing event, and to our wonderful speakers for your inspirational talks! 🎉 Thank you @R_L_Thomas for being a fantastic President of our conference and leader of our team ❤️
