خیابان‌های کابل که در بیش از چهار سال گذشته جولانگاه جنگجویان خشن طالبان، ماموران امر به معروف و سرکوب بی‌امان و خشونت‌بار زنان بود، روز شنبه شاهد حضور چشم‌گیر هزاران زن و مرد بود که به استقبال تیم فوتسال آمده بودند؛ رویدادی بی‌سابقه که بسیاری‌ها را شگفت‌زده و غافل‌گیر کرد.
تصاویر نشان می‌دهند که خیابان‌های پایتخت مملو از جمعیت است و زنان و مردان در کنار هم صف کشیده‌اند؛ رخدادی که پس از تسلط دوباره طالبان بر افغانستان کسی نظیرش را در خیابان‌های کابل ندیده است.
حضور زنان در خیابان‌های کابل بازتاب گسترده‌ای در شبکه‌های اجتماعی داشته است.
یک شهروند با انتشار تصویری از حضور زنان در خیابان‌ها نوشت: «بهترین تصویری که در چهار سال آخر دیدم.»
برخی از شهروندان این جشن را اعتراض مدنی در برابر طالبان توصیف کردند و شماری هم حضور زنان را فریادی در برابر طالبان و تبعیض جنسیتی خواندند.
