I’ve been thinking a lot about how @figma does product work.
And what makes Figma “Figma”?
This, in turn, made me realize I never followed up on my previous thread about roadmap prioritization.
So here goes….

In 2019, one of my first @airstreet investments was in a pre-product team undertaking the world’s largest human nutritional studies with the aim of decoding why each of us respond uniquely to food.
Today, it feels like Xmas as I received the @Join_ZOE product in the mail.
🤩

@GergelyOrosz Working on the C-Map app (nautical app for boaters), we created a bunch of personas. Then once every two weeks we randomly assign those personas, and have the whole team take the upcoming release build and accomplish the tasks from the persona. Has worked well.
@Thomasbcn@blinkist@GrowthDotDesign IMO not enough companies evaluate whether the ATT dialogue is worth showing to users at all. Huge trust breach in the first session for an ~5% opt in rate to… measure ads better? We decided not to implement it at all for our app.
So what should you focus on? IMO measuring effective process and volume of testing is the best approach. Ultimately what drives high quality growth is a) speed from ideation -> testing and b) a rigorous experimental process that applies a consistent standard to all tests.
Put some thoughts together on A/B testing and growth teams in the ASO Stack. Incentives are misaligned between managers of growth teams and their teams. So if you manage a growth team, how do you align them?
.@Rafabehrens on A/B testing fails:
"The reason most tests get 1% improvements quickly is that most people run bad tests, finish too early, don’t take into account confidence intervals"
"There’s a lot of pressure to demonstrate wins and no pressure at all to run tests correctly"
Don’t focus on wins for your growth team KPIs! Wins are for evangelising amongst the wider team, justifying the work of the growth team and making people feel good. But using them to measure impact encourages (well-meaning) bad behaviour like peeking, ending tests early, etc.
