I WANT A NATO PORT AT BERBERA. 🇸🇴⚓️🌍 Berbera is one of the most strategically valuable locations on the Gulf of Aden. From Somaliland, the Free World can help secure the Bab el-Mandeb, protect access to the Suez Canal, defend European–Asian trade routes and deter Houthi and Iranian disruption of international shipping. My proposal is clear: recognize Somaliland, conclude a long-term strategic security partnership with Hargeisa and develop Berbera into a permanent Western naval and logistics hub available to NATO allies and partners. Somaliland has demonstrated stability, strategic orientation and willingness to cooperate with Europe, the United States and the United Kingdom. We should respond with partnership, investment and security cooperation. The Red Sea and Gulf of Aden are lifelines of European prosperity. We cannot simply watch while hostile forces threaten them. Berbera can become an anchor of Western security in the Horn of Africa. Recognize Somaliland. Secure Berbera. Protect Bab el-Mandeb. Defend Suez. Strengthen the Free World. — Gunther Fehlinger-Jahn, Chairman, Austrian Committee for NATO Enlargement 🇪🇺🇺🇸🇬🇧🇸🇴 #Somaliland #Berbera #NATO #BabElMandeb #RedSea #GulfOfAden #Suez #MaritimeSecurity #HornOfAfrica #FreeWorld #Europe #Security #Trade #Hargeisa

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
"This is a historic moment. It's the first official visit by the President of Somaliland after the official recognition of Somaliland. We are proud, and I am proud that my government is the first government on the planet to recognize Somaliland. Others will follow.
And I think that these steps reflect a deep spiritual bond between our peoples. The Jewish people know what it means to possess an ancient history, a distinct identity, an unbreakable national spirit, yet still be denied recognition. And today Israel recognizes Somaliland and helps correct a historic injustice.
I believe that we can expand our relations to many, many things. We discussed this both in my private meeting with the President, but also with our teams. There's much to do in the field of water, in the field of agriculture, in the field of technology, in the field of security – and in many other areas that Israel welcomes the cooperation and participation of our own people with your people, Mr. President. I think it's a friendship that is just getting closer and stronger all the time.
This is by way of expressing also our appreciation for the fact that you're opening an embassy in Jerusalem, our ancient capital. It is your parallel recognition – just as you expect nations to recognize your sovereignty, your identity, your own rights, your own national rights. The same thing we have vis-à-vis our capital. It's only been the capital of the Jewish people since King David. That's only 3,000 years ago. So, for some countries, it's a belated recognition. For you, it was instant. And I very much welcome that.
And I want to thank you and your distinguished delegation of ministers and officials. Welcome to Israel. Welcome to Jerusalem, our capital. And may we go from strength to strength."
Prime Minister Netanyahu added:
"Israel and Somaliland stand at the opposite sides of the Red Sea, but we are united by the same belief that freedom, democracy and opportunity are stronger than extremism, terrorism and chaos. So, this agreement is not only about diplomacy. It's about building farms, agriculture, hospitals, businesses, technologies and jobs. It is about turning friendship into prosperity for both our peoples.
The enemies of peace – and there are quite a few of them around us – the enemies of peace build tunnels, missiles, terror armies. We will build something stronger: partnerships, innovation, a future of hope and security. So today we extend a hand of warm friendship to Somaliland, and we will build our tomorrow together. And together we will show that the future belongs not to the forces of terror, but to the forces of peace.
In that spirit, I welcome you once again to Jerusalem. Welcome. Thank you all."
Bismillahi Rahmani Rahiim;
I have arrived in Israel as the first President of the Republic of Somaliland to undertake a State Visit, and I am honoured by the warm welcome extended by my friend, President @Isaac_Herzog
For thirty-five years, the people of Somaliland have built a peaceful, democratic, and resilient nation. We asked the world: Do you see us? Israel answered first. Today marks a historic milestone in our journey and the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between Somaliland and Israel.
To the people of Somaliland: I carry your hopes and aspirations with me. Generations have struggled, sacrificed, and persevered to bring our nation to this moment. We will seize this opportunity with confidence, wisdom, and determination, always guided by the interests of our people and our Republic.
Today, history is being written, and Somaliland stands ready to forge a shared future founded on friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect.

This is what sets Somaliland apart from Africa and from the countries that claim power and democracy. True democracy and real statehood are what exist in SL today.

Following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Somaliland on December 26, 2025, and in line with the understandings reached during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar to Somaliland last month, the government of the State of Israel has granted an agrément to Somaliland’s first Ambassador to Israel, Dr. Mohamed Hagi.
Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Hagi currently serves as an advisor to the President of Somaliland and was a member of the inner circle of officials who promoted the establishment of relations between Israel and Somaliland throughout 2025.
An Israeli Ambassador to Somaliland will soon be appointed - an additional step in strengthening relations between the two countries.
In addition, this week, a designated course is being held in Israel by MASHAV, the International Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the Somaliland Water Authority and the Director General of the Ministry of Water of Somaliland. The course is intended to assist in the construction, development, and planning of the water sector in Somaliland, and to strengthen professional cooperation between the sides.
Honored by the warm welcome for Somaliland at the @AIPAC Congressional Summit reception. With friends old and new - Americans and Israelis, Republicans and Democrats - we discussed our shared democratic values and common interests in the Horn of Africa.
We are deeply grateful to the State of Israel for its historic recognition and remain committed to joining the Abraham Accords, strengthening partnerships with the United States and Israel on security, trade, and economic growth.
Salam. Shalom. سلام. שלום

The report regarding President Cirro’s upcoming visit to Israel 🇮🇱 has emerged and is considered a success. Additionally, tangible progress and ongoing discussions are taking place between SL and the U.S 🇺🇸, with President Cirro expected to meet President Trump later this year.
A landmark step forward for Israel–Somaliland cooperation. Capacity building in water resource planning is not just technical training - it is strategic nation-building. Partnerships like this strengthen institutions, advance #SDG6, and deepen meaningful bilateral cooperation based on shared expertise and innovation. Wishing great success to the participants and to this growing Israel–Somaliland partnership.

As it appears on the map it is a small, weak, and narrow place; life, hotels, and even mentality are very limited — it is a disgusting country 🇩🇯🤮

The President of the Somaliland held a high-level strategic meeting with the President of Israel @Isaac_Herzog & @EricTrump reflecting SL’s growing weight on the global stage, the sharing of strategic interests, and its steady pursuit of International recognition and cooperation.
Last night in Davos, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, i met with the President of the State of Israel, @Isaac_Herzog at a high-level dinner. Our discussions focused on strengthening and advancing bilateral relations between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel.
I also met @EricTrump , an influential global figure and son of the President of the United States, as well as other senior global political figures and international leaders.
A true leader is one praised and respected by his people, his country, and the world.
President Cirro is a shining voice from the Horn of Africa, widely recognized for his diplomacy, while Somalia’s 🇸🇴 failed government faces global criticism for corruption and looting.
To my fellow citizens of the Republic of Somaliland, home & abroad, I extend my sincere greetings and appreciation, and convey my best wishes for enduring peace, stability, and prosperity.
