@joshmcgoo I usually decide based on the level of agitation.
Calm > valium it has a longer half life (but avoid in liver injury). Otherwise ativan as it’s not CYP450 metabolized.
Agitated > phenobarbital
And if they’re stable for community discharge and plan on drinking > 1 xanax pill 👋🏻

@JonathanShedler I mean I honestly don’t blame them and I was in their shoes right at the beginning of my training. Psychotherapy education is absent in medical school. It needs not just to be present, but to be an an actual longitudinal module, just like bioethics..
