The Leader of Opposition Shri. V. D. Satheesan must stop dodging questions with diversions. Secular Kerala deserves to know: what was the 'deal' behind your participation in the 2006 RSS Golwalkar birth centenary at North Paravur? Lighting the lamp before the RSS ideologue right before an election exposes a deep-seated compromise with communal forces. Was this, as alleged by leaders of Hindu Aikya Vedi, the cost of electoral support in 2001 and 2006? The mask of secularism has slipped; silence is no longer an option.

Today, the people of Kerala protested against the Union Government's attack on federalism and the financial neglect towards our state, through a Satyagraha at the Martyrs Column in Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala’s share in tax devolution, grants and scheme funds have been reduced. Unjust restrictions have been imposed upon our borrowing limits as well. We have suffered a total revenue loss of Rs. 57,000 crores due to the Union Government’s financial discrimination against us. We are merely demanding what is rightfully owed to us, not any handout from the Union Government. Kerala stands firm in its resolve and will resist every attempt to subvert states' constitutional rights.
