Devotees visit Sri Sringeri Saradha Peetam,Sri Kanchi Kamkoti Peetam,TTD Dewaswom,Guruvayur Dewaswom and Sabarimalai Dewaswom,Sri Ahobilam Matam,Sri Sakatapuram Matam,Sri Maharanyam Muralidhara Swamigal,Sri Shirdi Sai Baba, Sri Puttabarthi Sai Baba,Bombay Prabhadevi Sri Siddhivinayak Mandir,Govindhapuram Sri Vittaldas Mandir, many more..
They go and pour crores of money, hand over cheques for 40L,50L, offer cash,kind,jewels..Silver Bars,Gold coins,Diamond Necklace,Diamond Crown..what not..
It is all good and fine.
You continue to make those matams richer and richer.
But look at this too,please,please.
In Thanjavur,Kumbakonam side, many temples in micro interior villages don't get oil to light the lamps.
No salary.
It is said, they are doing the service without getting anything.
e.g., Keezha Sooriya moolai temple.( Sun Parihara sthalam).
The Kurukkal is coming from Tiruloki by moped for morning poojai.
No rice from the temple property to prepare Swami Neivedhyam.
The priests are Not able to afford even a minimum living. How they manage fuel cost when they move in their small moped from one temple to another? No one knows? They visit 6,7,8 temples at a stretch or in parts.
Many Temple priests,Temples are not receiving adequate support from anyone.
It has been ages since they received handsome monetary support on a monthly basis to maintain their quality of life.
No medical attention, health insurance for their wives, children. I feel justice has to be done for them, their immediate families.
They are not living..but just surviving in a pathetic condition.
Where is Dharma,Dharma!!
Who will take care of them, those temples?
Years ago each sivan temple in Thanjavur Jilla had a dedicated Kurukkal. They lived in Agraharam, took care of the presiding deity, did nithyapadi poojai, 4 kala poojai,6 kaala poojai,as the case may be. Golden Days.
Each Vaishnava temple had a dedicated Archagar. They followed the agamam, performed thirumanajanam on Thirunakshathram etc., Mahasamprokshanam,Samvathsaram,Brahmothsavam were done as per the tradition. Golden period.
Over the years, due to many reasons, the situation has completely changed.
Today in and around Kumbakonam,Thanjavur you have one Kurukkal servicing 6,7 or even 8 temples.
The impact is two ways.
1. In order to sustain a minimum (in ultra rural area) living the Kurukkal has to accept, serve all of those temples
2. The Dharma Karthas have sought the support of Kurukkal to perform one kaala poojai atleast.
Just think about 10 -12 years down the line.
Why is that Archagars,Sivacharyals,Kurukkals,Bhattars are the deprived lot?
One Sivacharyal in Vadapathimangalam cycles at his old age to go to the temple. Widower, has a daughter who is widow ( with her daughter )
Another Archagar in Pancharamashethram, has a metal plate in his left leg, still performs his daily poojai in Ramar Koil. I saw everything with my own eyes. Hence this note.
Another Kurukkal, despite Asthma problem ( wheezing ) in Sithanvazhoor, continues his Koil poojai, living in the same Agraharam.
Another Kurukkal says he is getting monthly Rs.62/= from the TN Government in Alagaputhur,Near Nachiarkoil.
The Kurukkal in Sethanipuram Sivan koil writes about his wife 's insulin, medical needs every month, seeks support.
The Kurukkal in Thirukarukudi receives Paddy yearly once..he is my friend.
The Kurukkal in Masilamaneeswarar koil,Kadichambadi gets paddy.
....the Kurukkal's case in Avalivanaloor sivan koil is the same case.
The Kurukkal in Padagacheri sivan koil survives ( his sister and he )because of his Karnataka Government hotel pension..not getting any support other than the tea, coffee, dosa, food from his neighborhood. In Padagacheri, swami Neivedhyam is from other community lady.
All the above information is verified.
Aren't we here to deepdive into this sad state of affairs?
If not now,never.

India has overcome wars, shortages, and global crises before - through unity and shared sacrifice. This moment calls for the same national spirit again. 🇮🇳

They both gave so much to the society.
@AnanthAyyasamy gave up his career here in US, moved to India intended to serve the people.
@Kirthikashiv changed her profession and became full time politician. They both intended to bring a change, strived to give a progressive politics.
Their loss is a bitter pill to swallow, we as a society must introspect ourselves.
⚠️ Read before your Sri Lanka or Bali holiday! @SunOfGan@outofofficedaku do RT if you find this useful...
This post could save you or others USD 20–150 per person.
Indian Tourist arrivals into Sri Lanka are required to complete a ETA process. Similarly, other than the Indonesia VoA or e-visa (which is chargeable), you need to complete a e-CD (Indonesian Customs Declaration) for Bali. Both the ETA and e-CD are mandatory.
There are websites running paid Google ads that look official and help you fill these two, but here's what they don't tell you:
➡️ Both the processes are completely FREE
➡️ There isn't an EXPRESS/URGENT option of getting your Sri Lanka ETA
Yet, travellers are unknowingly charged hefty amounts in the name of "assistance", and thinking these are the official government websites.
And here's the irony... YOU still fill every single detail yourself. Same effort. Zero benefit. Only cost.
Many travellers realise this only after their credit card is charged. Cost is unclear, refund terms are unclear and their support is hard to reach.
I’m sharing a few screenshots below (without naming the websites) to show how they are designed to look official, the pricing is revealed late in the flow and how easy it is to get misled by words like "Express", "Guaranteed".
How to spot the real websites
✅ Always check the domain.
✅ Official government sites:
🇱🇰 Sri Lanka ETA > https://t.co/GC9WoYVYSM
🇮🇩 Bali e-Customs > https://t.co/A5aotd0EaR
🔎 Look for: Official government domains like https://t.co/qZ7KGOo7OZ or https://t.co/SozBh6axXb. Be cautious when a website asks for a payment under "service fee/assistance" for a Free process. A $158 charge for ETA process? 🤯🫨
Here are two Youtube videos on how to fill Sri Lanka ETA (https://t.co/7OrXK6oPkB) and the Bali e-Customs (https://t.co/7B3q9kIugH).
Share this post, it could help someone avoid an unnecessary expense before their holiday. Holidays are meant to be Sooper hit and not start on an unhappy tone... ✈️
Today is the 148th birthday of Carnatic vocalist, author, composer, multifaceted genius ‘Gayaka Shikhamani’ Sangita Kalanidhi Dr Harikesanallur L Mutthaih Bhagavatar. (15th Nov 1877- 30 Jun 1945)
On the traditional Hindu calendar, it was Deepavali that day!
☺️🙏🏼☺️🙏🏼☺️
@TheVelacheryBJP We'll have to get the Thiruvanmiyur Vegie Market neat and organized. This is under the Marundeeshwarar temple, and the space is under utilised. A two floor commercial building can solve and greatly enhance.
This is a govt function with the District Collector present. As the MLA of the constituency, speaking to the Chief Minister in a pleasant tone is just normal protocol. I honestly don’t see what’s wrong with such a conversation.
So true! Diwali’s the one time everyone actually heads home, hearts full n lights on! A week off isn’t asking too much—it’s the festival that keeps the whole country glowing. Give it the break it deserves!
Deepawali is the largest, and perhaps the only, pan-India festival that truly brings people back home, as those away from family make their way to native towns.
It deserves a full week of national holidays. If needed, revoke holidays like Gandhi Jayanti and few more, that don’t resonate with the masses and give Deepawali the recognition it deserves.
Other countries set a precedent too, with long holidays for festivals like Chinese New Year, Christmas in West, and Japan’s Golden Week.
Even as our Arattai team is scaling up and fine tuning the product, our other product teams are hard at work.

Reposting this as we commemorate the birth anniversary of Serfoji II, the Maratha ruler of Thanjavur, today. The preservation of the great temple built by Rajaraja Chola in Thanjavur, in the form we see it today, is largely due to his efforts.
After the Battle of Arcot, the Nawab, with British support, launched an attack on Thanjavur. Following the defeat of the Maratha king Thuljaji, the British seized control of the Peruvudaiyar Temple and converted it into a military base. Worship came to a halt, and bullet marks scarred its walls from target practice.
When Serfoji II later ascended the throne, the British demanded rights to collect taxes. Serfoji agreed, but only on the condition that they vacate the temple. Once the temple was restored to its sacred purpose, he undertook extensive renovation works, repaired damaged areas, and even constructed a brick platform. To ensure the continuity of worship, he went so far as to borrow money from the British themselves.
Tamilakam is deeply indebted to Serfoji II for safeguarding the great Chola legacy.
