Poverty in Gujarat: દેશના વિકસિત રાજ્યો પૈકીના એક ગણાતા ગુજરાતની કહેવાતી સિદ્ધિઓની અનેકવાર પોલ ખૂલી ગઈ છે. ગુજરાતની અડધોઅડધ પ્રજા મફત અનાજ લેવા મજબૂર છે. ખુદ કેન્દ્રીય અન્ન પુરવઠા વિભાગે સંસદમાં રજૂ કરેલા રિપોર્ટ પ્રમાણે, ગુજરાતમાં 3.65 કરોડ લોકો મફત અનાજ મેળવે છે. કરુણતા એ છે કે, રાજ્ય સરકાર લાખો લોકોને મફત અનાજ આપે છે તેને સિદ્ધિ ગણાવે છે.
રાજ્યમાં ગરીબી હટાવોના રાજકીય નારા ગૂંજી રહ્યાં છે, પરંતુ હકીકત એ છે કે ગુજરાતમાં ગરીબ પરિવારોની સંખ્યામાં દિવસે ને દિવસે વધારો થઈ રહ્યો છે. વર્ષ 2022-23માં ગુજરાતમાં 3.45 કરોડ લોકો મફત અનાજ મેળવતા હતા. જ્યારે વર્ષ 2025માં મફત અનાજ લેનારાની સંખ્યા વધીને 3.65 કરોડ સુધી પહોંચી ગઇ છે. એટલે કે છેલ્લા 2 વર્ષમાં આ સંખ્યામાં 20 લાખનો વધારો થયો છે.
